We got em...  As many of the irc frequenters have noticed the irc has been going up and down mostly at night.  This is due to Time Warner's failure or willingness to fix problems on their lines in this area.  I have spent hours for many weeks on the phone with them and their only solution is always replace the modem even then the problem is the lines and is obvious to the techs this is the problem.  Plus the foreign techs will demand every computer in the house has a problem when the cable sync light won't even come on in the modem.

I hope to solve this problem in two ways.  First we are moving to PA and I'm hoping the new monopoly is more thoughtful to their customers.  For this transition the net will go down on the 28th and resume in the new location on the 30th.  Second as we have had in the past I would like to get a second irc server running ( irc2.furtopia.org ).  That way if users have problems with one server they can simply hop over to the backup without having to endure down times.  Both servers will be linked so all chat will be seen on both servers.  I'll post a time frame for this service in the next couple days as we learn more of our options.

Many thanks for keeping everyone in the loop. It's kind of tough to fix troubles that are not of your doing, but moving your home to so the servers run better is a bit extreme!

How sad.  You'd think we'd be a bit more mature considering the actual IRC has been out for just a week.

I'm trying to sort this issue out at the moment but least to say I'm not happy. The IRC has been good at moderating itself and for this to happen is saddening. I am however please that some have brought this to the staffs attention before it got really bad.

Many hugs and cookies to those that sent PM's to me and other staff about this issue.

For those who caused trouble: I will review what I have to give yourselves a chance to explain your actions and decide if any action on my part needs to be taken.

It's not like we are already revered as sexual deviants and then some people don't have the self control and respect for others to not participate in these sorts of actions. You know who I'm talking about. I too am deeply disappointed with said people. I thought furries were better than this. This just goes to show that some people can't handle their own freedoms. All I have to say is... why?

While the idea/IRC site, etc. that Chris had set up was noble and good, The seperate server site that he had directed people towards was unmoderated and uncensored. Some people who used the Furtopia channel that was set up there were having chats and discussions that were putting Furtopia and it's memberbase "in a bad light" so to speak.  Therefore, Links to Chris's alternative IRC stuff have been removed.
