I'll go ahead and say it simply, then. The link to the IRC was on our servers. The IRC was not family-friendly, and the OPs had no intention to follow those guidelines we had set. Because of that, it broke two rules:

9. Individuals are not allowed to explicitly advertise or recruit on Furtopia forums and live chat (Furtopia IRC) for other forums, communities, or projects.

The IRC is not affiliated with Furtopia (since it was explicitly said that they would not listen to WS), and because of that, we disallow advertisement for it here. You guys are free to have an IRC, and we really have no power about what name you use. However, it's not appropriate for these forums.

Using the furtopia name without consent of the staff and WS/Kada is against the rules anyway. Furtopia is a registered charity and anything that can put a black mark against it's name won't look good at all. Chris/Awkray had made it clear in the topic that it was family friendly and a temporary place for the furtopia IRC. It even links to furtopia.org in the channel info. That means ALL rules have to be followed as it comes up our name whether it's on a server we own or not.

Longer than expected we now have a working internet connection. With a little luck we should have a IRC server online late tonight. *cross paw fingers*

Yeah, for whatever reason, those ISP's like to take forever to get those set up. And also, they never seem to get it set up quite right on the first try.

Glad you're back up and running, though. Hope the move went well, internet connection delays aside.

I leave the fandom for a few days and oh boy. As for the alternate site falling apart im deeply embarased by that. I meant that to be a place we could huddle until irc was back up. To those who took advantage of it, SHAME ON YOU! BAD DOG! Now if feel that it was a bad idea to even set it up in the first place. By doing what you did, you bring shame on me and my intentions. As for the Admins of furtopia. I am very sorry I used the name. I meant no harm. I just wanted to keep us together and chatting. If i were not removed from the irc, id have you kick me off. Syi, I hope you were able to use the password and do what you needed. I will never set up a room like that again. Hopefully i will return to the irc some day and when i do i hope that I will still be welcomed back despite the rule infractions.

Chris, don't worry too much about things. We know you were trying to help, and it lasted for a while. Just... we have ops for a reason, and it's hard to keep things together and family-friendly without a full staff to back it.

I'm glad that you tried it, but if you want to do something like this in the future, contact Syi or some of the other ops. If you have their backing and help, things can work out well

*hugs* You're always welcome to the forums, man, and I'm sure you'll be alright in the IRC. You just tried to help, and there's no reason for us to be angry about that.

Did it just die again in the last 20 minutes? >.> I'm not sure if its just me. *just checking* (my internet connection flaked out at about the same time as I initially DC'ed, and I have been unable to reconnect to only the furtopia IRC; freenode & all websites work fine.

I don't understand why the back-up chat turned into something (what I am assuming is inappropriate and the 'media' view of furries etc) that could've just... been... taken to some private channel if people just HAD to do that sort of thing...? Angry

I hope the main server is back up soon. It's very lonely here in Melbourne -shoulder starts icing over from lack of socialising-

You can click on where it says ChatRoom near the top of the page, enter a nick name, and click the [Chat on IRC!] button and that will get you there.

Or you can set up a chat client to connect to irc.furtopia.org:6007 and join the channel #Furtopia.
