How did you pick your fursona(primary or 1st)? Just curious.
My Zorse stems from my therian connections to horses. The stripes well they are from the combo of wanting to be different and symbols of an emotional and personal nature.

For me there was never really a choice. '> Feline just feels right and I enjoy it. Nothing else has ever produced the same satisfaction and felt so...natural if you will, as odd as it sounds. I can't even role-play any thing but felines well. I don't know if I make any cohearent sense what so ever. meh.

I love birds I like cats. The gryphon is the perfect mix. It symbolizes balence. The mastery of both land and air. Compasionate when his friends need it, and ruthless to his enemies. The gryphon to me is special. that is why I chose it.

Meh, yenas have just been my favorite animals for almost as long as I remember. That, and realizing all of similar behavioral characteristics I had with them made it an easy decision. '>

I have always felt a connection to wolves. Since I was a little girl they always mystified me and drew me too them. When I found out about this whole fursona thing, it was only natural for me to use a wolf as my identity. Autumn Fire is very much a part of me as I am of her. We have identical personalities and even the same flaming fur. And when I found out about Therians, adn spirit guides, I finally found were the horse in me belonged too.

After thinking about it, it wasn't really all that amazing or interesting for me. I just had an interest in werewolves, then I added the name of my Everquest character and "hey presto", instant wolf fursona.

*Smiles and chuckles a bit* When I was going to a success coach, she had me write a paper on why I chose to be a skunk, feeling that there must be a deep sign of my psyche that would come to light through that exercise.
The short version.
I think there are two main things that drew me to being a skunk. One is that skunks are sometimes seen as outsiders or misunderstood. That is a way that I've felt in times of my life.
The other thing is that I've always found skunks to be sexual characters and I was exploring my sexual side when I created my fursona. Even in children's cartoons, skunks are portrayed as amorous. Just look at Pepe Le Peu or Fifi, both very sexual characters.
And besides that, skunks have great, wonderfully bushy tails that are fun to play with, wrap up others in and give nice long tail hugs with.
There is some feline in my character as well. The feline part came because I first created my furson for Furcadia and there was no mephit avatars. I do love cats, so decided to create a feline character. As I chose colors for my character, I found that the black and white pattern came close to looking like a skunk. That being the case, I styled myself as being a hybrid, part cat, part skunk.
Now, my fursona is basically all mephit. I just feel comfortable thinking of my alter ego as pure mephit.
I am contemplating a fursona change. I will still be a skunk, or mephit, but I want to change my fursona to more focus on my music and art. The name I've come up with is Mephit Blue. *Shrugs and smiles* Just seems like a cool name for a studio and has that music connection with blues and the famous Blue Note jazz recording label. *Grins* Haven't decided whether blue will just be a name, or whether my character will be blue and white instead of the common black and white of a mephit.

For as long as I can remember I've been drawn to anthro foxes, be they in stories or cartoons. There has always been a conection with thier characters for me, and I would pretend that I was them as a child. I've known about my were side with wolves since I was about 15 or so, but my fox side has always been the strongest and purest. There wasn't any thought as to what my fursona is, I am he and he is me!

How did I pick my primary (and only) fursona? There wasn't much question about it. What other Scottish animal is so sly and tricky as the fox? ^^ Besides which I share a lot of traits with the fox including plenty of personality traits and red hair/fur. ^^

I've been interrsted in birds for a long time, birdwatching, etc. And, I've been interrseted in animals since before I can remember, and enjoyed cartoons like The Lion King with talking animals. So, eventually when my friends and I created characters to represent ourselves, my character was a were-crow, because crows are smart and craetive, and pretty. Later when I learned that ravens are cooler, smarter, etc, so I turned my character into a were-Raven.
Now, I'm a full raven fursona.

Well on finding the furry fandom, i decided to set out all my personality Traits and Match them to animals, first i was a puppy dog oh sooo cute lol'z, then i changed it, (although i still use him as a RP character) Then changed my main fursona to a wolf, but it did not just suit me as well, as i thought it would, so then of course the next one to come along was fox, which suited me perfectly '> which quickly became Riko!

After reading about the Kitsune' and it's ability to shapeshift I felt a natural attraction to them. And as my avitar shows I swap between my Human shape (real life) and my furry side (kitsune' anthro form) so much a little of my human side has "crossed over" so to speak. This just makes me ME.

I don't know what made me choose to be a big cat. I've always been facinated by them and Tiger just seems to be a part of me. I don't think I chose it, rather it's always been there and I've come to realize it and understand it more. I guess it chose ME!

I've just liked Alaskan Malamutes (Huskies) for a really long time. Their my favorite type of dog. '> My interest in them all started when I used to watch reruns of the old 1950's show "Sgt. Preston of the Yukon" and I really liked the dog named King on the show.
Too bad the show isn't on DVD anymore.

For me it was simple. I have always loved the water. Also I like to have fun, goof off and what not. The otter seemed to be the one animal that best fit my dominant traits. Not to mention the fact that I have always loved the little critters.
My name is Lascivus - old latin for playful Lutra - old latin for otter

How did I pick this one? Easy. I gave up. The first one I had was too hard to draw, so I started looking for something else and a certain fuzzball showed up so...yeah, I'm a kitsune now. *points at Kura* His idea.

My Actual first fursona was the black widow, those who know me know I love the D&D Driders. Dunno why, because spider creep me the F*** out, but I fell drawn to them.
Later, I guess, Teh jackal just came about in meditations and all things "witchy". So I knew from there I had a jackal totem.
And the elf thing, is from many many vivid dreams past and recent I've had.
I am really just an elf with a jackal totem that lusts after driders. If that makes sense *lol*

I was always a gryphon lover, and when I found out that *OMG GASP* there were other gryphon fanatics out there on the internet, I made up 'Rezzit.' It was her name that came to me, not really how she looked. Therefore I drew her in very typical, brownish, juvenile colors first and stated quite plainly that it was her pre-fledging plumage. I thought it was particularly appropriate as I was going through a major metamorphosis myself at the time.
Then 'the winter of my discontent' came to pass. It was literally winter, and I had some rough going. Reflecting this, Rezzit darkened to grey.
Then I went through yet rougher times, and felt completely disconnected from who I was before. Rezzit got put on the back burner. I began looking around for another persona (or fursona, as I was a little more into the anthro thing at the time) and settled for a short while on an okapi. It didn't quite fit, however. I had way too many gryphie manneurisms about me- and to the best of my knowledge okapis don't pur or feel the need to pounce their mate on a regular basis.
And then, finally, I came to the realization that just because one CHANGES doesn't mean they become another person entirely. It was a very helpful realization for my mental development IRL, and it resulted in the pleasing effect of 'Rezzit the Okapi Gryph.'
Because, you know, Stripes ARE sexy.
P.S. I can not remember for the LIFE of me if I managed to PM you before my computer crashed, Savannah, regarding those ears you sent to me. They are such a hoot and I love them!

I didn't really choose my fursona as much as my fursona chose me! I experimented briefly with identities as a horse, cat, and wolf but the match wasn't right. Being a "feline canine" has suited me well, however. Foxes resonate with me because we are not the biggest, strongest, or fastest creatures going, but generally get by on our wits and out-think our enemies...of course, genetically-engineered, pyrokinetic vulpines are still relatively rare...
