Don't know if it is an addiction, but my black lab chases shadows.  He is the goofiest dog ever. He prefers chasing not his own, but everyone else's shadows to anything else.

One of my parent's dogs, used to be mine before I went to college, was addicted to stealing coffee, she didn't want to coffee so much as the stealing part. At one point at an off leash dog park she knocked a guy over and ran off with his coffee. The next day he was ready fo0r her so she couldn't take him of his feet, problem was that he was wearing a hat with a long dangly thing on it so she grabbed that and ran off with his hat. The guy put his coffee down so he could chase her, she waited till he was about half way between her and his coffee she then dropped his hat ran around him and took his coffee.

That is an excellent story.

My wife reminded me that my cat is addicted to potato chips and has been known to crawl into the bags after crumbs

On a side note, are there any catnip pets?

Our cats have never been that nuts over it, oddly. Sure, they like it, but I have seen cats go nuts for it...they haven't so much. Though, what thy call Cat Grass, on the other hand...wow! She goes crazy over.

Hmm, I wonder what Kiki (the newest, youngest house cat) would do with catnip.

In general though, Bear (the older cat) is addicted to anything sweet. And chicken. Kiki is addicted to...well, meat in general.

I used to have a cat that was so addicted to catnip that when we planted it we eventually had to put a milk create over it to protect it from her since the first three times she ate it down to the root. Once the milk create was in place there would be days when she would lie on top of it all day simply chewing the plant as it grew, the Delta cat was c0onstantly high on the stuff.

My Aussie is addicted to his ball and frisbee... do those count? Oh-- and ice. Dude loves ice...

Than again, he enjoys most things I give him-- he enjoys carrots as well-- and of course he drools while waiting for his dog food.

My dog always tears the heads off her stuffed toys, the average lifespan of a teddy bear when in the jaws of Leela is about a day.

One of my cats is actually addicted to purple straws. Not eating them, but she goes crazy over them, and will fetch and bring them back for you, like a dog. Its mad.

Daww!

My cat does the same thing with those little safety seals they put on one-gallon milk jugs.

Also, my cat loves to treat my leg like a scratching post.  Shocked

I don't know if this is an addiction..But my dog licks the sofa, on occasion.

Nothing spilled there, and there's nothing special about it. Just..licking the sofa, for a few minutes at a time. She doesn't do it that often, but I wonder what she thinks is there..

Laser pointers...and beans. My cat just had to sample a can (empty) of Hormel chili. An open can of refried beans also had to be checked out by her.

That IQ test sounds funny and all but it's a bit biased on bond between master and pup. I agree that the problem solving parts might be accurate on it but it's not really reliable at all...
