I was in Borders bookshop today looking for something for my Dad's birthday in 9 days time and I happened across this book by Andrew Davies and had to buy it for myself immediately.
I was chuckling about it for ages afterwards. '<img'>

The Amazon synopsis reads:

"Now that communism has officially lost its ideological battle with capitalism it's time for the winners to rewrite history. In Eastern Europe, people are even beginning to look back at the communist era with a sense of nostalgia. The Thoughts of Chairman Miaow takes the stark political sloganeering of Sino-Soviet communism and combines it with ickle wickle pussycats. "To be attacked by the enemy is not a bad thing but a good thing," said mao, and his words are echoed throughout the book by a variety of Chairman Miaows. The Thoughts Of neatly anthropomorphizes the views of would-be feline dictators, with the text provided and inspired by a variety of diehard apparatchiks at politbureau HQ. Alojngside exhortations to go out and destroy enemies of the state, there are appeals from the national intelligentsia; for unity, for freedom for brotherhood, for social justice amongst the proletriat and (cat) calls to confront and defeat imperialist enemies. Long Live Chairman Miaow!"

If it's permissable click HERE to see the Amazon page - it's worth it to see the front cover of the book. '<img'>

Yes! Yes! Long live our good leader!

You know, when I read that, I knew exactly where in the book that particular quote comes from. I may just read that book, Ishmael, I may just.
