Ok. Let me first say that I realize I am in NO position of authority, and therefore probably have NO place in posting this thread. However, this is on my mind (along with the minds of a few others I have talked to) and it must be said. I have noticed several cases were an excellent roleplay is going on, and one, or two people go inactive. It is not the same people every time, I am not pointing fingers at ANYONE *shoves paws in pockets*. When a single person decides to stop posting, no one else can respond unless they take control of the inactive persons character. The decision to do so is often somewhat risky (because the person whom we may have thought left, may come back and complain that we stole his/her character).
________________________________________ So, For this reason I would like to make a few requests to anyone who is going to be roleplaying. Again, these are simply requests, and you quite obviously do not have to follow them if you don’t want to. However, know that I will show the same courtesy to all of you.
1. If you are not willing to commit to a RP, Don’t join it. For those of you who just get board and leave, it shows a lack of commitment, The truth of the matter Is, even if the RP has entered a slow time, it most likely means at least ONE person is plotting something big. You will never get to that big thing if the RP stops.
2. RP game masters (yes, you people who start the threads, you are GAME MASTERS, and have final say in what happens in your RP) Do NOT be afraid to set a limit on how many people can join. Obviously there are some exceptions to this, And generally you will want as many active people as you can get. However, when you have 20 people all trying to play in one RP, one of them is BOUND to go inactive. Not to mention that the RP becomes extremely confusing, and nearly impossible to figure out what is going on.
3. If you are active in an RP and need to go on vacation, move your character AWAY from everyone else. Do not fling your character into a fight sene and then just randomly leave. My friend Celta is an excellent example of this. He realized he had to much RL stuff to deal with to continue playing, and he had his character leave the group. I myself have knocked my character out cold, and left his fate in the hands of the others while I left.
Keep in mind also that if for some reason you have to permanently leave an RP, You can always have your character die. There is no shame in that, and I have high respect for those who can realize they can’t continue, and act accordingly. ________________________________________ I realize I am still very new HERE, but I have large amounts of roleplay experience elsewhere, and would like to bring what I have learned here to this community. Keep in mind that I was not talking directly to any individual. However if it maybe felt like I was talking to you, it might be a good time to see which RP’s you have been inactive in...
-Trying to win hearts and minds but willing to splatter them if necessary, as always, -Alsek

I wholeheartedly agree with everything you just said, I myself realized that I could not keep up RPing with everyone else in the RP called 'the institute' so I waited for an appropriate time and had my character refuse to proceed with whatever was going on, and fly away. One thing I would like to see is an RP set up every now and again for newbie RPers as I found it very difficult to keep up with everyone else's posting, I would write out my post, liking with the previous post, only to find that 3 other people had posted before me, forcing me to rewrite my entire post......... just a suggestion to encourage new roleplayers

Yuo've adressed some really good points...but what if we cannot predict our situation, such as my family problems? I have to deal with those first and foremost, and when I do, I can't really reply to tell that I'm going to be busy. then I get left behind, like in the Forest Rp.

Family issues come FIRST, Agreed!

Real life happens... and so people do leave.. if they leave then you just have to form the RP around that persons disappearance.. People have the right to leave if they are just not interested in the way things are playing out.
If a fur has the habit of simply leaving, a GM can bar him/her from their game.
For those entering a game, its common courtesy to play by the rules, if you cannot abide by the GMs rules do not play.

Alsek, what you wrote makes perfect sense. It should be common courtesy for members to notify other members and/or the GM of an RP thread that they will be gone for a short time or a lengthy time. Although I do not play RPG's in any form, your "guidelines" here are fairly common and similiar to any other rules that RPG groups would have.
In fact, a short "amendment" (Post #15) was added to this thread concerning RP threads and how they are played. http://forums.furtopia.org/index.php/topic,1770.0.html

Don’t feel bad about trying to kill other players characters. It is perfectly fine to try, just don’t do it through Godmodding. Remember, you are not killing Tundra, Your character is killing Tundra’s Character. There is a huge difference that I will probably explain sometime in the near future. (this thread is a prime example of my serious side... now i feel like goofing off, Good day Gentleman! *Turns around to walk off, then trips, falling down a staircase*)
