Walking Cane/Straw QuiverThis can be quickly assembled from PVC 3/4" pipe and fitting. You with need a 5-foot length of pipe. (Some stores sell it in 2, 5, and 10-foot lengths.) A 3/4" end cap, 3/4-to-threaded 1/2" adapter, and threaded 1/2" cap.
De-burr the pipe ends. Rinse out the pipe thouroughly with tap water and air dry. Press the end cap to the "down" end of the pipe. Press the adapter to the "up" end. Slide several long plastic "party straws" into the open (threaded) end of the adapter. Place threaded cap over the end and turn down--not too tight now. You now have several straws available in a sturdy, dust-free containment which doubles as a walking aid.
When you need to hydrate from a canteen or bottled water, unscrew the cap and turn the open end down to dispense a straw. Replace cap.
One might simplify this further by simply using two end caps, but getting at the straws inside may be more difficult with paw gloves on.
The assembled walking cane/straw quiver may be painted with Krylon Fusion or wrapped with decorative tape/duct tape.
I can post photos later if you need to see examples of the finished project.
