To clarify, im talking about a friend who is okay with you beimg fuury, but does something weird that relates to the fandom.

For example, I have a friend named Aly. She is super nice, always happy, very pretty, rich, perfect girl. But she found out that i am a furry.Now she treats me like a dog. She has petted me in public, asks me if i am a good boy, trys to get me to do tricks, etc. She likes it when i get tired and pant. She is drawing some serious attention.  I am already known to most of the popular kids as "The gay, crazy, emo, self mutilating, anti-religious fat kid." I love her to death, but she is killing me!

Have you tried telling her that you love her to death, but she's killing you?

I cant. She is VERY sensitive. She didnt speak to me for a week because I looked at her necklace, and she thought I was looking at her shirt(it WAS lowcut though, so it wasnt in dresscode) She would be mega angry at me, and she is not fun angry.

Well, I have lots and lots of non-fur friends that are perfectly okay with me. Not annoyingly okay, but okay. For example, I've been getting help making my suit from a non-fur friend ! She's really great.

My friends don't know I'm furry, but they know I'm a cat and might do little things like pull a string around for me to play with or bap me on the nose. But it's nothing serious. I'm already known as the "Cool, insane ladies man, who's bright and peppy super religious loving talk skinny cat kid" so I guess we're very different personalities xD

I really dont mind being known as a furry (Im doing a tie-dye shirt in science thats going to say furry pride) but she is not treating me like a furry. She is treating me like a dog. And she thinks I enjoy it! (admittedly it WAS noce to be scratched behind the ears ) but I am still a human being. Just one who has a furry side.

You don't have to tell her to stop entirely (sounds like that would probably push her over the edge). But you could ask her to scale it back a bit. She's making you uncomfortable, and clearly doesn't realize it. And I wouldn't expect her to have some random epiphany that gets her to change what she's doing.

It could be something as simple as "Hey, I appreciate you being cool with this furry thing, and it's fun to have somebody that I can goof off with sometimes, but I don't always want to pretend I'm a dog." If you make sure she knows you still appreciate her efforts, it may make the whole thing go by easier. If that gets through, perhaps you could make an agreement that she should take your lead. If you aren't behaving like a canine, then she should hold back. But if you start to act more like a dog, she can take that as a cue to play more into it.

I have a friend like this. She annoys me, I get extremely pissy, she goes into sorry mode, and I forgive her. A never ending cycle.

It is very funny, because the day befor the last day of school, she found this! She got really mad and hurt and didnt speak to me for a little while. Then I pointed out the compliments, and how nice you all were and she forgave me. Then she made me let her paint my nails.

A week ago I told a friend of mine about my fursona at school, which he subsquently went to the computer lab to see whats all that about, and the next day I had a whole lot of petting, you know the...*pat pat pat* thing,eh?. After quite some days he has been petting me alot more often to the point where It gets on my nerves, I mean he sits in front of me at class, and It ALWAYS has to do this:

-5 seconds later-

Me: okay I've got it...

Not trying to show myself as some sort of greedy,selfish-furry but I does get annoying after a while AND even more because of his sarcastic-like-smile he does everytime.

Where the friend tells you that they support you with that suspiciously snide tone? Yeah....

Sounds like you need to come out and confront him directly. That seems like he's purposefully egging you on... Don't be harsh, just ask what is bringing this on.


But, as for me, I have some semi-furry, more Neko friends. But I have friends who really love to drag around/dangle a string for me to attack. And I love the scratches sometimes [makes me sleep! ]. I also had a friend I really like curl up next to me when I slept on a counter in the sunlight. That was awesome... and warm...

Most I tell don't get annoying. Mainly because I act exactly the same towards them afterwards.

Well, I have a friend IRL who -is- a furry, my best friend from high school to be exact, but does things that make me feel awkward and he like... "tries too hard" to be a furry. If that makes sense. Like, he just always kinda forces it. Ever since I found out he was a furry and told him I was one, too, and we started talking more on Skype, he got this way. he was never like this before, either. Only after he knew I was a fellow fur.

Not sure, but I would prefer if he didn't try so hard and just be himself; in fact, I would like him better that way

Sadly friends dont come with a controller. Good thing though, or I would be out of batteries...

My friends don't know im furry except for one is also a fur. She was kind of annoying at first because she called me by my fursonas name, finally i got her to stop but i got a few questions over that. luckily my other friends lost interest after a while.

i just realized i have a friend that sorta knows im a furry,she always calls me "fuzzy" and scratches my head and plays with my hair(no complaining here ) but there is one thing.......she whistles to me like im a dog,which ticks me off a little bit

Ahhhh, isnt this beautiful? a bunch of furs getting together and complaining about our friends petting us and whistling to us. if someone who didnt know anything about furry overheard our conversation (if we were together irl) would probably be confused why people like to scratch us behind the ears and pretend were animals.

its just the fact that she does it EVERY time she sees me .......even when i was in walmart and i didnt see her and she whistled with everybody on the isle looking at her and me......i actually like it sometimes,but not every dang time she sees me!

No, my friend who this thread was started about, found this website, printed out this whole conversation, and then brought it to school. Then she threw a fit and got very mad at me. She cried and refused to speak to me for about...five minutes. If you are reading this, remember you forgave me!

My pro-furry friends never make a difference in what people think, it's just a game.

I can only think of one person like that. And he is a bit annoying, not about being furry though. Just in general. He is just a bit overbearing in general, so it gets annoying, but he is a great person to have as a friend it seems, so I can deal. haha
