Anybody else here hate telemarketers? I always let my answering machine get all my calls. If I recognise a name, number, or voice, then I'll pick up. If not, then the call is instantly deleted. Seems like the worst time to get calls is around 5-6pm. This is when telemarketers call the most because they know this is the general timeframe when people get home from work.

I know Kobuk. Caller ID lets me know whether or not I know the person on the other side, but still, telemarketers are very annoying. Especially when it's an automated call...in SPANISH! My family's home number is on the do-not-call list, but that works just as well as...I can't think of anything witty, so...it doesn't work. Luckily, I don't get any telemarketers on my cell phone (although I do get calls from random people looking for some guy named Gary... ). I wonder who actually listens to telemarketers...

But telemarketers are such fun to play with! D:
I answered one for my mum once, some survey for a magazine. Her name is Natalie. I said that my name has been Nathan for 6 months and asked them to remove me from their lists as I'm more into motorbikes than perfume or whatever the magazine was about now.

My mother has a cell phone that she gives the number out to those who she would answer to. Those telemarketers only know her phone book listed house phone, which she never answers. I think she may even have it unplugged.

I love telemarketers. I string them along by asking stupid (but plausible) questions when they call me up and waste their time until they eventually realise that I'm not interested in their product. Or i hang up on them in the middle of their spiel.

I generally don't answer the phone. I have fun wasting their time though if I get one. Having worked as a telemarketer (very briefly - terrible job) I imagine it's the closest to anything interesting that happens to them most days.

I only have a cellphone, and I've only ever gotten spam-texts which were obviously spam. So I deleted them.

I tend to just not answer to telemarketers. If they persist in trying to call, I mark them in my phone with the name "do not answer". When I have answered, I try and be polite to them. They're people trying to earn a living after all. Even if that living is incredibly annoying.

Anymore, I've had more problems with spam email than phone calls. I don't have a landline, so I basically get out of any of those. And while I have used my cell number for certain things, I only put it down when necessary. Online orders (if required), utility bills, loans, rent, etc.

That is one benefit to only using a cell phone, haven't gotten a single telemarketer! Only spam I've gotten is from my darned Alumni Society at OSU, begging for money. (Hello, I have a theater degree and am a digital artist, I has no moneys! ) I always feel sorry for telemarketers though. I had friends in college who worked for one of those places, and they get screamed at practically the whole time they're there, both from their bosses for not selling enough and from overly angry customers. There's a reason the poor peeps sound so desperate! ~~Brunn~~
