Presents and gifts are nice, but the thing I miss most is not having any
family to be with on holidays any more. It's sad there are so many people
who have to spend the holidays alone.
I am very sorry to hear this, Old Rabbit.
One of my local furry meetup groups had a Christmas get-together for people who were otherwise alone during the holidays. Perhaps you can start something similar in your area if nothing like that exists?
I can't imagine being alone during this time of year. It's hard enough as it is!
Here's hoping your New Year will be brighter...
Thank you for the nice comments Iara. I really don't worry about it that much
these days. I have spent the last dozen years without family or friends visiting
during the hoidays.. I grew up just being with my parents during holidays. We
never had family groupings during holidays. I lost my father 34 years ago and my
mother 12 years ago. What extended family I have (cousins, aunts, uncles) are
over 100 miles and farthrer away. They have their own families to worry about.
The worst part about growing older is loosing family and friends.
I think lt's worse for those who grew up being around large families to be alone. To
miss the crowds of relatives all gathered on holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas.
My vision doesn't allow me to drive a car or even safely cross a street. So it would
require others to haul me to any gathering. Not being out going, once there I would
feel like a third thumb. I never was much to socialize, so being home alone doesn't
bother me that much. Just an old homebody I guess.
Happy New Year to you, and yours Iara,
