Was Santa good to you?
« on: December 26, 2016, 09:24:40 am »
Every year we wait with anticipation for that  little old elf with his
bag full of goodies.

So what did he leave you?  No problem if you'd rather not say.

For me I bought my self a few boxes of Chocolate chip cookies and
chocolate covered cherries. (Yummy)

Hope everyone had a fine Christmas and a even better New Year.

I didn't ask for anything in particular this Christmas. All I really wanted were gift cards. I'd rather go out and pick my own stuff than to have other people run around in heavy traffic, wait in long lines, etc., etc. to get gifts for me.

This was last week Tuesday:
I had 2 coupons (Both at 20% off.) + my Barnes & Noble membership, so I bought a 2-disc DVD set of the movie "Pan's Labyrinth", and also the 2-disc Blu-Ray movie "The Right Stuff".
Had 2 coupons to Kohl's, so I bought a new winter hat and a sweatshirt.

For Christmas:
Recieved more Kohl's coupons (2) from my mom.
Also recieved gift cards from my mom for Target, Wal-Mart, and Barnes & Noble.

Recieved from a fellow modeling friend an unfinished model aircraft carrier ship from his modeling stash. It's a model he said he wasn't going to have time for anymore, so he gave it to me. I can't specifically say what it is except that it's a project I had dreamed of doing myself some day, but never knew somebody else had beaten me to it. Who knew that great minds think alike?  :D

I finally have a computer powerful enough to play Space Engineers on! My dad helped me buy an Intel Core i5 6400 processor, and an AMD RX 470 graphics card. I overclocked the card to 1400 MHz and it's sooo fast. I bought the case, power supply, RAM, hard drive, disc drive, Windows 10, and other essentials. That was the biggest part of my Christmas. Then my mom bought me a nice keyboard with blue LED lights on the keys. It feels amazing to type on. My grandpa got me a drone that can shoot videos in HD.

Got a lot of candy and a book + a stuffed koala from keitsu's (sciex's) parents.

Also get to spend this week and next week in Australia with him so I guess that's kinda a "gift"  (sadly still depressed as hell and i don't see it going away anytime soon)

I got to spend Christmas with all of my siblings and both of my parents at "home" (where my folks live).  Since leaving home, I've found I enjoy more and more giving people things than getting them.

That being said, I was given some chocolate, a couple pairs of socks (I love socks!), and a painting from my parents. My one brother gave me a movie and some games on steam (when I'll have the time to play them remains to be seen), another pair of socks from my sister, a grill my other brother won at at raffle, another movie from a friend of mine.  Oh, and my ladyfriend gave me three shirts, so I was given a lot of things this year.

The time with people was better. You don't know how much you enjoy something until you can't have it for a while.

Won about $31 on instant lottery tickets. A $25 grocery gift card and a $25 craft store card.

My childhood chum dropped by to show off some 3-D printed model rocket parts and to give me several foam Space Shuttle catapult gliders, a 1:48 scale F-4J Phamtom II kit, and one of his own AIM-47 missile model rocket kits he designed himself--with laser-cut parts.

Presents and gifts are nice, but the thing I miss most is not having any
family to be with on holidays any more. It's sad there are so many people
who have to spend the holidays alone.

I am very sorry to hear this, Old Rabbit.

One of my local furry meetup groups had a Christmas get-together for people who were otherwise alone during the holidays. Perhaps you can start something similar in your area if nothing like that exists?

I can't imagine being alone during this time of year. It's hard enough as it is!  :'(

Here's hoping your New Year will be brighter...

Thank you for the nice comments Iara.  I really don't worry about it that much
these days. I have spent the last dozen years without family or friends visiting
during the hoidays.. I grew up just being with my parents during holidays. We
never had family groupings during holidays. I lost my father 34 years ago and my
mother 12 years ago. What extended family I have (cousins, aunts, uncles) are
over 100 miles and farthrer away. They have their own families to worry about.
The worst part about growing older is loosing family and friends.

I think lt's worse for those who grew up being around large families to be alone. To
miss the crowds of relatives all gathered on holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas.

My vision doesn't allow me to drive a car or even safely cross a street. So it would
require others to haul me to any gathering. Not being out going, once there I would
feel like a third thumb. I never was much to socialize, so being home alone doesn't
bother me that much. Just an old homebody I guess.  :D

Happy New Year to you, and yours Iara,  :orbunny:

Spent my Xmas Wal-Mart gift card today on a set of new frying pans that I desperately needed. And picked up the new Blu-Ray documentary drama "Harley and the Davidsons".

On Sat. this past weekend, I spent my Xmas Kohl's gift card (Plus also a Kohl's Cash $10 coupon and a Kohl's 15% Off coupon) on a new pair of boots. Got massive savings!  8)

Got some nice clothes and some Christmas money. With it I bought three Poo-Chi robot dogs, one Super Poo-Chi, a Little Live Pets talking puppy that I imported from the UK through Amazon and three vinyl posable Pound Puppies from the 80s.
Meddle not in the affairs of robot dogs for you are crunchy and make an excellent fuel source.
