*edit for updated rules 11-25-04*
Ok, there seems to be some confusion as to what can go where as far as fursons adult artwork/stories/poetry etc., on the Furtopia forum.
I hope I can clear this up.
Furtopia's Forum is rated PG-13. This means that any adult content can only be on a fursons personal website or in the adult section. You MUST be 18 or over to access this area.
We at Furtopia know that everyone looking at adult material is not an adult of 18 or older. If they do choose to continue to look at the adult material even after a warning then that is their choice and Furtopia and its members can not be held responsible for any problems that may arise from such decisions.
This is a precaution that the creators of Furtopia have opted to uphold.

I am a bit concerned over what rating my stories would have. Each has at least one graphic, violent scene of a character getting hurt (in some cases there are characters getting beheaded, etc.)
One has a 'strongly suggestive' scene. I don't want to scare away readers put off by 'wank' material, as none of my stories are written that way (though of course anyone who squicks at so much as lightly suggesting something might think otherwise) and often, especially when it comes to sexual content, I try to do a literary equivelant of an 'artful silhouette' on the scene. However, by the same token, I do not want someone who would be easily offended to blunder in expecting a squeaky-clean story to stumble over a scene they can't handle.
Most of my stories, I think, would qualify as "Rated-R." One I would rate as "PG-13" instead of just "PG" though not quite an "R." Is there any room for these in betweeners?

In the adult section. When you signed up there is a button that you would click to allow you adult status.

The Adult sections are only accessible via what's called the Adult Filter and a member has answered a few questions to gain access. Unfortuneately, the Adult Filter is undergoing maintenance, so members who wish to read/post in these forums must contact an Admin (Blastdav for example) to have their profile manually set to gain access.

All open forums that you are currently viewing now are kept to a PG or "Family Friendly" nature. If you have any questions about adult stuff, you can send a PM to any of the Furtopia Admins and they can help you out. Further info. about Furtopia's rules and who to contact can be found here: http://forums.furtopia.org/index.php/topic,20851.0.html

There is but you just can't see it unless you are approved.

What does the forum consider "Adult" writing? Is it anything sexual that puts it into that category, or should it be placed there for things like foul language and violence?
I am posting a story I wrote in the adult section just to be sure, but as I would like as many people to enjoy it as possible (and give me feedback) I would like to post it here. Mods?

Not a bad question. Here's how the rules currently read (click on that link and search for "Exceptions and Guidelines"): 4. This is a family rated board. This means that the following things are off limits: advocating the use of drugs or alcohol, sex, graphic violence, and swearing (anything harsher than damn and hell). Please don't try to bend the rules by using creative spelling (fsck), acronyms (W.T.F.), censoring, insinuation, or other tricks. Talk smarter, not harder.
Section: Furry arts discussion
Not all the restrictions of rule #4 apply to works of illustration, stories and poetry. The following things are allowed explicitly:
- Tasteful nudity. Nipples, unaroused genitalia, and mild erotic undertones are allowed. Please indicate in the title if a piece contains nudity. - Swearing and violence, if not excessive. - Blood. But no gore.
These exceptions do not apply to the discussions, only to the works posted here. Some of these are more applicable to visual art than to writing, but you get the idea. I wouldn't be able to say for sure without reading it, but as long as the violence in your story isn't excessively disturbing or gory, it's fine in the general boards. As for foul language, it will be automatically edited out by the censor no matter where you post it, which is a little annoying but what can you do. If you're still unsure, feel free to PM me your draft and I can let you know.
