Greetings,

I’m here to tell you about the Furry Sociological Survey. You may or may not know, but a few years ago David Rust, a furry and history student, conducted a survey of 360 furs. Now in 2006, I hope to replicate his survey, as well as ask a few questions that Rust didn’t ask.

So why do this? The answer is: out of curiosity. Once the results have been collected I will collate them and present them online so that you can see what trends we have amongst us furs.

If you wish to complete the survey all you need to do is to download the word document from here:

http://www.furnation.com/thefurrysurvey/ffs_survey.doc

Then fill it in and email it to furrysurvey@gmail.com Be sure to read the consent statement and instructions carefully.

With many thanks,
Kyle (furry and first year psychology student)

PS. There is no deadline by which the survey must be submitted. I’ll keep taking them as long as people keep sending them in. But it would be appreciated if you don’t take too long.
Also if you don’t have Microsoft Word on your computer just email me and I’ll send you version of the survey that you can work with, such as a txt file.
And also, you can see the original survey by Rust here: http://www.visi.com/~phantos/furrysoc.html

Thanks to everyone who has taken part so far. But just a reminder, please read through the first page carefully. In particular be sure to read the Statement of Consent. It's very important! Really!

The survey has had about 70 responses so far - which is pretty good. But it'd be even better to take that number of the 100 mark. My apologies for the shameless bumping of this topic, by the way. Happy New Years all!

Yes I made that mistake, I always do that when I'm filling out internet forms too. ^^
I'm interested in the statistics and how much or little they have in common with the older one. Are you posting your findings online?

Yup, I'll be posting my report online. I'll be sure to post the link to webpage here when the survey is finished - whenever that is.

Hmm, just filled it out, but do you want us to send the survey in via copy/paste or an attatchment to the email? '<img'> It's going to be interesting to see the results.

Attaching it or copying and pasting it - either way works just fine. Just make sure if you copy and paste it that you copy the entire survey, statement of consent and all.

Excuse me Furry Survey,
But I am doing various psychology reports on the furry fandom. Would it be alright if I used your numbers and statistics in it? Of course, you'd get full credit for it.

That's definately a-Ok. Except the survey isn't over yet, so the data I've collected is incomplete. I hope you don't have a deadline for the reports you're writing, because I don't know how long it will take to accumalate a decent amount of responses. At the moment I have about 90 responses, but I'm aiming for about 300. (Wishful thinking perhaps...but we shall see)

Not a problem at all.
The only deadlne for me is well...death. A bit ironic wordplay there, but frankly; no deadline.

It's a little bug/typo thingamagigger.
There's a dot after "com" that shouldn't be there.
It's more correctly furrysurvey@gmail.com

I think...

Not a problem.
I'm living with my dad; who troubleshoots things, so I have the bad habit of over-analyzing things.
All I had to do was pick apart the post until I found something that's not directly related to human error.

I put mine in a while back. I'd really like to see the results from this  survey. Being a math major, I love statistics and graphs, so don't mind me.  '<img'>  I think this could really show some interesting things about our little furry society. Even though there are a variety of statistics that really don't matter, it is still very interesting to see the results.

Oh they'll be plenty of statistics and graphs. I'm actually looking forward to analysing all this data.

And I'm really looking forward to seeing it!

What sample size are you planning on before you actually analyze the data?

To those who asked, I'm hoping to get 360 responses...but things seem to be slowing down a bit now, and I've presently got 130-something responses, so I might aim for 200. Either way, once I think things seem to be wrapping up, I'll put out an announcement and leave the survey open for just one more month, then I'll close things up and start writing up the report.
