First time con stories. any type of con at all, but which one was your first. *is posting 'cause I just got back from my first visit to a con today in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.*

Well, lots of people, shoulder to shoulder almost all day. It got hot inside. Kind of insane. It was Anime Detour 2007. Not a fur con, but still my first, and a lot easier to go to than a fur con due to parental units. Anyways, It was fun, even though I spent an hour looking for another fur who wasn't at the con at all

'> . He showed up when I was leaving, but I still got to see him anyways, which was sweet. He was in his fursuit, it was sweet. I totally was temped to scritch, but a bunch of people who were from my school's anime club were with me (I am the pres. of anime club... all hail the geek! XD), so I didn't... they would have found it odd, the found the suit odd enough, but it was an anime con, so they quickly forgot, of course. It was fun, and I got some fun stuff. The next con I am planning on is MFF 2007, I hope for awesomeness and more awesomeness.

my 1st con was Mephit Furmeet 2005... it was alot of things, fun,chaotic,refreshing and just what we needed. I went with Tak, his mother(Mother Moo),faitkitsune and D'boy. We had just lost everything we owned in Katrina only 2 days earlier. Why still go to a con? We had a room there already and I could get my meds and gas for the van. It was a time to lock out the world and forget just for a few days of the devistating event we had just been thro. All the furs at the con did so much for us to make sure the weekend was as good as it could be.

We went back 2006 and did our best to thank them. cant wait for this years con.

My furst con? It was awesome. Best 6 days of my existance. I went there with furs I`d never met and roomed with others i`d never met. I lost 3 friends because of going, and made so many more because of going. It was amazing.

My first con was Further Confusion 2007, it was awesome...first off, this con happened 2 weeks after my Grandmothers death (which hit me extremely hard since she raised me) I got back home from flying to California for her memorial and a week later was FC...now for the crazy mess that almost prevented us from attending...we almost didn't make it because of my mess up with the plane tickets >< ended up losing $775 worth of plane tickets because the dates were messed up (my fault for not triple checking everything) some friends of ours who we were going to room with (had never met before and only chatted online) all pitched in and bought us plane tickets. We get to FC and have a blast! and we are already planning to meet each other (the 6 and possible 2 more this time) from now on for every FC

First one for me was this years FWA. In a word, it was interesting. It was great to meet so many fun people to be around, and I loved watching the fursuit activites. It's definitely one I will be attending regularly. It was interesting to watch things change though. I got there a couple of days early to take care of something, and almost everybody staying at the hotel were in dress and business suits. All I could think was man these guys are in for a shock. Then as Thursday progressed and all the other furs showed up, it was fun to see the looks on some of the other guests. And this was a spur of the moment decision too, because I hadn't planned on going to one any time soon. But I'm glad I was dragged along.

Oh, and the best part wasn't even at the convention. I know of at least one person that avoided Atlanta all together because of the con, despite it's small size relative to that of Atlanta. We aren't that bad now are we?

My first con was MFF 06, and it was awesome. Despite having had to arrive late late on friday and miss a whole day of con activity, I still had a blast. I finally met the furs who I'd been talking to online for so long and met countless new furs.

Soon as I entered first thing I saw if five guys all collared up makeing out. I wasn't a fan of that personaly but I didn't get spooked. It's a good thing too... The rest of the con was a blast. I couldn't belive how much fun I had. Despite a few different things I didn't like, the over all experiance was amazeing. I got so much art and meet some really cool furz that I still hang out with to this day. I wouldn't pass on the experince.

My first con was up here in Washington. I went to Conifur 2005 which happened to be the last conifur ever because they couldn't find a venue to host again and officially shut down.

It was a very populated con, there were a lot of dealers den tables, and so many new furs I saw for the first time, but I also got to meet with members of the furtopian IRC during my two day period there which was so much needed after all the stress of college getting to me.

Going to Conifur was a pleasant experience for me since I was new to the fandom and I ended up meeting a lot more furs I would later see in my local areas of Idaho.

Thats my two bits for now as I get ready for Califur in 16 days.

I believe this topic was done before last year... but I cant remember when.

Anyway, My first Furcon was Megaplex 5 in Orlando Florida 2006.. I wanted to go to a con, and finally had the cash to afford it. I met a lot of cool people and had a great time.

I recommend going to a small or medium sized con like Megaplex, Mephit Fur Meet, Furry Weekend Atlanta or Rocket City Fur Meet and see if you like the experience before heading out to a big con like Anthrocon. They had 2,489 furries last year and they might top 3000 this year.

My first con was Conifur in 2005, which was Conifur's last. I had chosen that at first, because at the time I was very involved with the Jack (it's a webcomic) community, and a lot of the members were going - so I knew a lot of people there and decided that should be my first.

As for stories... Well, nothing really exciting happened, but it was still a lot of fun seeing people I'd been talking to for over a year online at the con.

Though if I want to go alone, I've still got 4 more years to wait, and I can't ask my parents, since they don't even know I'm a fur... (plus, they want me to be a "normal" kid... ':dead:'

) If I were to ask them, I'd get the age old question, "What's a furry?".

Baisically, still got 4 years to go, unless I finaly tell my parents. (and I can only go to ConFuzzled, no way would I be a loud abroad to go to my FIRST convention.

Hhmm my first experience was with an anime con..and in fact I have never been to a furcon as of yet, though I plan on going soon!

I went to AWA in Atlanta for the first time a little over a year ago. I went on my 18th birthday with a friend and we stayed in a hotel about a five mnute walk from the convention...I ended up meeting a girl I RP with there and I met a few furries.

Yup...twas fun. ^^

First Con I went to was last year, A-Kon. An Anime Convention, but there were still Furs that went. I only got to stay for one day, cause on the night of the first day I got sick. Woot go me! I'm going June 1-3 this year to it again, and this time I'll stay all three days.

LOL figures, my first con WAS Califur (III). I had talked to a few furs that had been to cons before, so what went down wasn't a total system shock. I had a blast really, despite being übar shy (as many furtopians can attest to). Cons are great social gatherings that I'd reccomend anyone go to!

Boy I looked different then.

Definately a wierd experience. But I had the pleasure of meeting some really awesome furries there (my furry bro Nikko being one of them, Speedy, Scruffie Coyote, Hazmat...it was a one-day blast).

The rest, as they say, is history.

My first time was in Feb '05 at FWA in Atlanta. Several of us from Furtopia IRC suddenly got the urge to attend our first con and well the rest is history. We had about 15 Furtopians show up. I think about 10 of us were sharing 2 rooms. Tons of fun to be had by all!

It was a wonderful magical experience that changed my life forever. I bonded with many of those furs and now talk to them regularly. They will be part of my family forever!

I was going to reference the thread but for some reason it is no longer here. Maybe it was archived *shrugs*

Regardless, since then I have been an advocate of furries attending cons. Especially when they can attend them with their online friends and get to know one another better.

My first con was Rainfurrest 2008, it was the most pleasent weekend of my life thus far! i got to meet up with a few of my online friends, and made several incredible new friends -grins-
