I first discovered it about 7 years ago now and although my brain said "you are this" I was forcing myself to deny it >.>
Anyway come last year I stopped ignoring this part of me and embraced it fully ^^ So I suppose last year I became one offically.

Also.

Well I would have to say I officially became a furry 7 to 8 years ago. Growing up though I always felt some strange affinity for cartoon characters and animals. I always wanted to have a tail for some reason, and was kind of embarassed about this thought. It was around 17 when I kind of started getting more and more into the anthropomorphic thing. Eventually I stumbled onto furry art and from that found some info on a fandom that I previously did not know even existed. I started drawing furry art and attened AC one year, which was quite an adventure O.o. Even though I still don't know if I fit into the furry fandom, I know I am part of it. It is something I cannot shake.

I've more or less loved cartoons, plushies and animals in general for as long as I can remember.  I used to pretend I was a cat, or a rabbit or whatever all the time as a child.

I found furry in 1999, the year I graduated high school (yes, I'm ancient for the community) when looking for chat boards about my favorite animator Don Bluth.  I came across a fanfic page for The Secret of Nimh and met my tribe. Wink

Well, I'd been drawing anthropomorphic animals for quite some time (and before I drew bipedal humanoid-looking anthros, I'd draw animals and have them in very human scenes and activities), but I "officially" joined the fandom almost four years ago after finding Furtopia and realizing "hey wow, this is my kind of place."
And my somewhat complicated story of how I found Furry.
It all starts with that CSI episode. (Please, no ranting about it, it gets old, I'm just using it as part of my narrative.) The first time I saw it I thought "That sounds like something I'd do but without the orgies." And promptly forgot about it. Then, a few months later, it comes on as a rerun and I start thinking about it again. A few days later, I get around to googling it, but having forgotten the term "Furries," I google "Fuzzies." That leads nowhere. So I googled "plushies," which lead to a site mentioning "Furries," so I googled that and found Furtopia. I think I chose to start at Furtopia because they had a messageboard. A good way to learn about anything is to talk to the people who know it, so I registered, and now, I'm still here.

Exactly the same way with me. I found out about it, then fell into the infamous "Denial Stage" then said to myself, "I am a furry, and I need to accept and love myself." Found out first week of December, carried the Furry Denial cross all the way through Christmas and my Birthday, then stopped fighting myself like, the week of my birthday (I think the day was January 11..) So I did, and now I'm one happy wolf. Smiley

Happy B-day.
