Really, I love all types of music. But right now, I'm really into progressive rock/metal. A lot of really good bands out there. Right now, I'm in love with Tool - they're so unique, and just bwaaaaaah. Amazing =^_^= +1 to prog

Well, I just signed up for Lastfm, and am finding the downloadable program thing that goes along with it to be really useful. You can find me here: http://www.last.fm/user/Iapetuss. I'm still adding to my library. I like folk music, thing like Phil Ochs, Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan, Fleet Foxes, Frank Turner, and some other ones I can't think of right now. My favorite band right now is the Decemberists. I'm not sure if they're exactly folk music, though they do have that old-timey sound that I like in it. I just got their album "The Hazards of Love", and listened to it all the way through yesterday. I like lots of other genres too. I like metal, though I prefer more melodic bands like Deadlock, Rhapsody of Fire, Nightwish, things like that. I also like rock music in general, especially punk rock.

I know i'm going to be the odd one out, but i'm mostly into CLASSIC (ie not current garbage) Hip-Hop and R&B. Mostly Run-DMC, Nas, Eric B and Rakim, Busta Rhymes, OutKast, etc... But I have lots of different tastes, for rock I listen to Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Snow Patrol, Iggy Pop. The only techno/house I listen too is Daft Punk and A Guy Named Gerald. Basically if it sounds good and sets the mood I listen too it.

I adore the piano and violin so I listen to artists such as: Yann Tiersen, Sufjan Stevens, Shannon Wright, and Angela Aki.
I also like to listen to some screamo while I'm working out. It helps to get the adrenaline pumping: Unearth, War of Ages, All That Remains.
And I can't live without my Sigur Ros. =3

mostly i listen to melodic death metal/metalcore/groove metal/gothenburg and maybe some hard rock like drowning pool or staind. i like all metal tho, as long as it doesn't have the stereotypical inaudible screaming that death metal is notorious for.

Not many of you non-80s kids will know them;
But, my absolute favorite all time band in existance since the invention of music is and always will be: The Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo. Or, just Boingo for short. They had their 15 minutes of fame around 84/85 with their single "Dead Man's Party". But for me, I have all of their records (yes, records. Those flat round vinyl disks with all the grooves on it) and all moviesoundtracks (Back to School, Less then Zero, Forbidden Zone etc) that they appeared on.
The lead singer and front man of Boingo is none other then the great composer Danny Elfman. yes, before Elfman became the well known hollywood composer, he was in an alternative rock band for 17 years. Elfman wrote the soundtracks to quite a number of hit movies such as Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, Nightmare before christmas, and dozens of others. As you might tell, he prefers the 'darker' theme of movies.
Boingo ended as a band on October 31st, 1995. There have been a number of tribute bands that formed afterwards but Boingo as a whole has never reunited. A nice fun fact is that one of 'tribute bands' that is currently performing and has taken up the mantle of annual halloween concerts is formed up with many of the original Boingo members (It was originally an 8-man band) and the lead singer named Bear McCreary. Bear is another hollywood composer best known for his score of the series Battlestar Gallactica.
Besides being a Boingo fanatic, I enjoy a lot of little known local rock artists and regularly go to my local Irish Pub that showcases original local talent. They don't book coverbands, only original stuff, or at least 75% of original stuff.
Also, every other Monday and once a month on Thursdays I myself perform as a traditional Irish Bodhran player in session groups around Chicagoland.

I am really into Indie Rock. So... Things like Modest Mouse, Pinback, Spoon, Silversun Pickups, The Shins happen to show up on my playlist often. I also enjoy Techno. I am currently listening to Boom Boom Satellites blaring full blast out of my laptop speakers. Daft Punk is good too. Really, I haven't found any Techno that I have minded.

Im all over the place with music. I listen to rap, hiphop, trance, techno, house, etc. BUT what I reallllllllly listen to is the hard side of metal, delving into the categories that have a ton of names, keep it simple; the "CORE's". But i have my softer side of that too. Asking Alexandria Of Mice & Men Miss May I The Devil Wears Prada In Fear And Faith Bring Me The Horizon Chiodos August Burns Red Saosin Architects ...etc

Pretty much everything that could be called Rock/Metal.
Favorite bands: *opens WMP* Blue Stahli Breaking Benjamin Celldweller (Yes, that one really needs bolded text, got Music from him and remixes of his songs for 7,6 hours) Criss Angel Crossfade Disturbed Evanescence (though they give me the sudden urge to kill myself, so I don't really listen to them) Linkin Park Marilyn Manson Megadeth Mindless Self Indulgence Pendulum Rise Against Seether Shaolin Temple of BooM and Voicians

*clipped awesomeness of Oingo Boingo
Yes, I love them too. I wish I couldn't seen them live, I hear their shows were great. Danny Elfman is I listen to a little bit of everything but my favorites (besides the above of course) are They Might Be Giants, The Barenaked Ladies, Talking Heads (and their frontman David Bryne <3), The B-52s, and Elton John.
