For me...wearing a collar doesnt stand out very much.I normally wear gangpunk type clothing I guess.I also wear my collar 24/7 not counting showers and the likes.Its pretty fun.The weird expressions on peoples faces are always priceless and thats what normally keeps me wearing it.

This thread has now been rechristened "The Collar Thread" so as to better serve all your collar-discussing needs. Wink

It's also now pinned so as to better serve all your pinned-thread needs as well! Smiley

I honestly wonder if it's a good idea to bundle all collar threads together as, to me at least, it seems like going to a forum of one specific game and bundling it all together in "[gamename] discussions" even though there are a lot of different things to discuss about in one game. But well, will have to trust the mods on this one and hope it works out.

its very nice, only problem is the inside of the collar has burnt nylon on it and you need to cut off the design thing on the inside or it is extreamly pokey to your neck : /

I'm sorry, Omni, but after discussion with the other staff, we felt it to be much better and simpler this way to have one thread for all types of collar discussion. There's just been too many collar threads in the last several days, weeks, months, etc. and it needed to be "condensed" so to speak. If you or anyone else has questions, then please PM a staff person and we'll answer as best we can. Smiley

Hehe...sorry to just burst into the thread. This is now the main collar thread though, so I figure that I could ask my lil collar-related question here.

I'm not sure what size I should be getting for a best fit. The circumference of my neck is approximately 36 cm (A bit over 14 inches). For best comfort and fit, what would be a good size of collar? And if I am to order online or search by breed (canine), which breed would I be able to pull off as?
I don't want anything skin-tight, but I don't want it too large either. I appreciate all help I can get. ^_^

hmm, if i were you i'd try a few on a pet stores first to get a feel for it.
i got a largre breed size collar but have it down to as tight as it can go and it fits perfectly, plus has the right size feel to it.
i may have been lucky though : P

whats the difference or reason to have custom ones made?  isn't it possible to just walk into a pet/pet supplies store and find one?

You could. That's what I did, and then customized the tags hanging off of them. But some people like their shinies a certain way. Heck, if they weren't so expensive I'd pick up a green and silver one from collarfactory.

It's very possible to just go into the pet store and purchase one. However, some people may feel as though a customized collar better suits them, for they select what they want the colours to be, the appropriate size of it, they can get words put onto it, etc. Perhaps, some people don't like the gamble you play when you look through pet stores to get them, due to the fact that you never know how it will be until it's too late to go back. *dun dun dun*

I just got a cat collar to wear as a bracelet.
It has a custom tag, and I stuck a old Celtic knot on it too!  Cheesy

It's cute Smiley I always buy a collar for my favourite plushies if they are able to don one that is. I might take a pic later.

Going out early to buy one tomorrow.  I've been considering it for a while, and I've finally decided to do something about it.  Unlike what most people do, wear it around the house, and never anywhere else, I'm going to have to do the polar opposite.  My family is pretty open to anything, but there's a supposed limit

I have a short story involving my dog collar.

Last winter, I had misplaced my favorite and only collar. I was freaking out, that collar meant a lot to me and had a lot of memories attached to it. After searching for it for weeks, I decided to give in and buy a new collar. I bought two new collars (because the first one I thought was too big, then I got another one and thought that one was too small). None of the new collars didn't fit me exactly the way my old one did. I like to wear my collar fairly snug around my neck, and my old collar was very soft, unlike the new ones I bought (which were very stiff and a bit itchy ><).

Come January, I open my backpack and find my old collar sitting in the bottom. XD I was so happy... but those other two collars were a waste of $20. ^^;;

Another note, does anyone ever feel odd when they go to a pet store and you need to try it on before you take it home? When I was buying my new collars, I would look over and make sure no one was watching me. >.>; But I got self conscious and just guessed the sizes (ending up in me buying 2 collars that didn't fit/I didn't like x.x).

I tell this story to everyone who asks:

----
Me: I need to buy a collar for my dog!
Pet store employee: What size is your dog?
Me: Coincidentally, his neck is about the same size as mine!
Pet store employee: Perfect, try on a few!
---

Yah, not verbatim, but that's pretty much what happened.  Cheesy

You'll need to first upload it to an outside image-hosting service like Flickr, Photobucket, etc. Then you can post a link here by using either the "Insert Image" button (if it's a small picture) or the "Insert Hyperlink" button. They're both right above the row of kitty smileys when you go to post. Wink

Well, I walked into a petsmart.  Its a lot harder to find something plain, without a design on it...

Nice! My collar is like that too. Plain and black. =) I don't like mine too fancy. XD;

Have you considered adding a tag or pendant to your collar, or will you leave it as it is? ^^

That's true, but keep in mind if you buy one made to be worn by a human, it will be more comfortable.
