Is anyone starting any resolutions for the new year?
What are they if you are? Any particular reason for it?

I don't think I have any resolutions at the moment. Though if I had to say anything, then I guess it would be to save better financially. If I think of anything more, then I'll post later.

My main New Year's resolution is to start up my new comic strip series (for a bar tending magazine) and create a new editorial cartoon every week. I started drawing Smirk (my political cartoon series) again this past year, but quickly got side-tracked with other projects. I am also resolving to write more.

The only other resolutions I can think of are: 1. STOP buying so many damn model kits and start building what I currently have (50+ kits). I want to build at least three kits in 2010 for future competitions. 2. Save for a new computer monitor. 3. Get a new job. 4. Finish some fursuit tutorials also.
As for New Year's Day, no special plans. Not even watching the football games as I'm not a sports person. Sleep in late, then fix eggs and bacon for breakfast, take care of laundry and dishes, then spend quality time finishing a model kit.

So, with one hour to go, my resolutions are this. And I WILL NOT give them up til they are done! 1) Find a job. 2) Get my mess with college and uni back in order, and 3) Get back in school in May! Yup, may do a lot more in the year, but those things must and will happen! So, Happy New Years to y'all!!

My resolutions
1) Get out of the house more this year. Stop living like a shut in. 2) Join a gym and get some muscles so I can lift more than just 30lbs at most. 3) Save more money from each payday and put it in the bank and don't ever touch it till I need it for something to splurge big on myself for.

You know, I've been thinkin' about it a lot, and I have a few things I've decided I will do. Don't keep tabs, but these are my resolutions: 1. Work on (and get a rough draft done of) the first book in The Wolfbane Chronicles (name subject to change). 2. Start training to run a marathon. I hate running, but it's something I want to do. 3. Graduate. 4. Get accepted into grad school. Yup. I'll be busy.

Item 1: I plan on making it to 1,000 movies watched before the end of 2010 (going by imdb, I'm at 717 right now). Item 2: Figure out what in blazes I'm doing with my life at college. One of these resolutions should be a piece of cake and something that I actually accomplish.

1. Try to stand up for my beliefs more often. I do that in places online like here, but I don't so much in real life. But I think I should. For though I don't want to "rock the boat", I also do not want to see the rampant stupidity continue uncontested. (A big example of this, is like when I hear my parents talking about homosexuality being some kind of horrible evil. )
2. Take better care of myself. And for this, I mean medically. There are a number of things which I should seek medical treatment for, but I don't since I'm afraid of the financial strain it'd put me under. However, the current situation definitely needs to change, as it's starting to have a very big impact on my quality of life. (it's not anything big, just a lot of little things.)
I could probably stick other things like trying to find a boyfriend or working on and completing projects more (I've lost count of the number of projects I have "in the works"). But I figure if I focus on these two things I listed, the other stuff will get easier.

I resolve to work harder on my art. I'll also try and be a bit more adventurous. That's all I can think of. Everyone here seems to have really cool (and, I think, admirable) resolutions. Good luck with those, guys.

I've never been one to make resolutions, but there is one that I actually made a few weeks before New Years, which is to get more involved in the activities I use to enjoy and do a lot. I've already gone skiing twice this season, which is one of those activities, and I've been playing guitar a little more so I'm starting on the resolution.

My new year resolution is to substitute all profanities that I might say with other words that are more gentleman-like. Basically, I'm not going to say anything that's bad in my conversation. Not that I swear a lot. It's just that I don't like those words anymore. Haha... yeah.

I forgot to include the big one for me: work to raise funds to support the homeless shelter I helped start up. I made the first step towards doing that yesterday. I helped start this up by writing an article that ran on the front page of the weekly newspaper back in September. After the article ran, a local activist found a location for the shelter. I am going to be organizing some fund raising events and writing to apply for grants soon. I have to meet with a couple people this week. It is good to be back in PR! And feels good to help get something we have needed in our community for so long off the ground.

1) Maintain a positive attitude throughout the year. 2) Finish off painting my 40K miniatures and models. (I have much fewer models then Kobuk, but have the same problem of finishing them) 3) Eat better and exercise more

I didn't make any on New Years.. that evening was miserable for me and I spent it alone with nothing special going on. Shortly after New Years though I made (and keep adding to) some:
1) Manage my finances better. I am off to a good start after I just traded my car in to a dealership and got a (truthfully) nicer and more suitable vehicle for me (a Chevy TrailBlazer 4x4) and didn't increase my debt and lowered my monthly payment by almost 50%! I should have money left over each month now and I am trying to manage that better.
2) After 7 years of trying to convince myself I need to stay single for life I have finally decided that I was wrong. I'm not happy being alone forever. I am going to make myself open and vulnerable to love now rather than closing myself off from it base on past fears and experiences. I want someone to share my life with, I want to experience love and having someone to care for and care about me. I've never had that in my life. I've never even been so much as kissed, and that bothers me.
3) I'm already in good shape, but I want to be in better shape. I'm going to build my muscles up more than they are now because its something I want. After this holiday candy is gone I am back to not eating candy again (like I have for years passed, I only eat candy on special occasions or out of politeness). I am going to put a little more effort into how I look again. I have really slacked of past couple of years and dressed rather grungy most of the time.
So.. that is where I stand right now. We'll see..

It's still January, the month of making resolutions and I thought I'd share in this thread that my resolution to work out and build myself up and get stronger has been progressing fairly well. I just weighed myself out of curiosity and I'm at 150lbs, I don't know how to convert that to metric for the furs across the pond, sorry.
I don't remember what I weighed at the start of the year but last time I weighed myself, like in December or November, I was at around 175 to 180. Of course that was with full clothes on, boots, socks, all those small weight percentages that push it just a little more but this morning I only had on a T-shirt and jeans so the clothes factor couldn't have been very high. If I had to guess I'd say I've probably lost 5 to 10 lbs since I've been going to the gym.
woot.

So far number 1 is going well.. 2 and 3... not so much. xx; 2, I've pretty much killed off the idea of that. 3, I've put on 10 lbs since then.
