Military Issue E2 Booklet. I am currently studying it to advance my pay grade. If I pass my P.Q.S. Oh good luck!! My family has *quite* a bit of experience with those... my dad failed his Master Sergeant test by three points. He retired about seven years ago with 22 years in the Air Force though, so we're still proud. ^^

I was the shadow of the waxwing slain By the false azure in the windowpane;
from "Pale Fire" by Vladimir Nabokov. This story...it's a fictional poem surrounded by the commentary of a fictional demented scholar, who I dare say disturbs me more than Humbert Humbert. Wait -- you haven't read "Lolita" yet? Put down whatever you're reading, IT SUCKS go read Lolita now.

Hah, yeah, I've been told that Pale Fire is a close second to Lolita, in terms of... what? Best books in the English language? Amazing twentieth-century literature? Nabokov being generically amazing? I don't remember, but then I wouldn't know anyway because I still haven't read Nabokov. I keep trying, but all these other books keep getting in the way. So much history and Russian lit and Faulkner to read! Kess there are too many books in the world what are we supposed to do with ourselves?? Myst: The Book of Atrus
Word. Oddly enough, I wasn't really a fan of the Myst games when they came out (too weirdly quiet and impenetrable for me at the time... I wonder what I'd think of them now), but I remember loving the books, especially the Book of Atrus.

But that was only because I was too young to understand and solve the puzzles. But, now that I can understand puzzles, the games are a bit more enjoyable. Still, I couldn't really understand the storyline behind it until I started reading the books.

The Science of Discworld II: The Globe - Terry Pratchett The novel isn't really a companion book to the Discworld series, sort of a... spin off? It's entertaining like a conversation you would have with a young-at-heart grandparent. Always getting sidetracked and comment on various things while telling a story that really tickles the humor out. I even tried reading it while cycling back to some avail!

I just finished Third and Indiana, by Steve Lopez. It's a pretty chilling novel about a kid who gets caught up in the Philadelphia drug trade. The corner of Third and Indiana in North Philly is still a notorious open-air drug market... if you're bored, try looking it up on Google Street View, and marvel at the sheer number of young men hanging out on that block who clearly have no legitimate reason to be there.

At the moment, I'm reading Stephen King's (or Richard Bachman's, if you want to go off the pen name he used when he wrote it in '73) Blaze, as well as Mark Twain's A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court, Lord of Chaos from the Wheel of Time series, and a book recommended to me by a friend, Dune. have a pretty hefty bookload ahead of me for the next couple of days.

I am reading Dante's Inferno. Wow I love this book, its so rich. I savoure each page like fine wine and preprocessed packed double fudge chewy brownies. Mmmm "Through me you pass into the city of woe: Through me you pass into eternal pain: Through me among the people lost for aye. Justice the founder of my fabric mov'd: To rear me was the task of power divine, Supremest wisdom, and primeval love. Before me things create were none, save things Eternal, and eternal I endure. All hope abandon ye who enter here. Such characters in colour dim I mark'd Over a portal's lofty arch inscrib'd: Whereat I thus: Master, these words import." - Phrases .org

Just finished reading: "Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind" and "Art and Fear: observations on the perils and rewards of artmaking"
Still reading :"Experiencing the world's religions" by Molloy "The Principles of Comparative Animal Behavior" "Essential statistics for the behavioral sciences" by Gary Heiman and an American Literature anthology.
Grabbed a book on learning to draw too. I should really just focus on class, but that's no fun, now is it?
(Disclaimer: My advice sucks) XD

I am thinking about writing a book about how to draw. I find that allot of people read these "How to draw" books and cant get a grip. I wanna create one that will help the reader start from the base level, where I can expose all my drawing secrets. An impart the tricks of the trade. but sadly I am always too bussy.

For about two months I have read nothing but Stephen King books. This is my ongoing reading "project": to read all books written by King in original publishing order. I just finished "Dark half" next book will be "Four past midnight".

The Heart of Darkness.
Joseph Conrad.
I'm not sure I care to read the book since I've seen Apocalypse Now. There's a few rare movies so good they outshine their source material, and I'm guessing this is one of them. Let us know what you think! Right now I'm reading Love and Rockets by the Hernandez brothers. I like it so far.
