[Plot]

This is a role play that may be somewhat similar to something that has been created before, but these kinds of things are always fun x3
Basically you're a mixture of two creatures created by scientists for the pet trade that rapidly gained sentience (there's a more in-depth plot explanation below). You may pay as the single member of your species, or more than one if you wish.

Plot

'New Pets inc.' is a group that specilizes in creating new breeds of dog and cat to sell to the general public. It was an innocent company that originally consisted of breeders dedicated to their craft; but everybody knew that they were getting way over their heads when they set up laboratories, and started dabbling in cloning and gene splicing.

The creatures they made became more and more radical as they strived to create something that families from all over would want, and it has now gotten to the point where species are being crossed and defying the laws of nature. Most of these odd mixed breeds don't survive, but the ones that do are developing more rapidly than they ever could have expected, surpassing the intellegence of even dolphins. Others have become highly sentient creatures that enjoy puzzles, and have even learnt to speak. They seem to be immencely proud of the sucsessful experiments, but I would be surprised that soon, the animals will no longer stand to be kept in cages.

Here's my characters;

Name: Lava
Species: Fenglin (penguin/cat)

Species Skills: Increased agility, exellent night vision and hearing, swimming
Personality: Playful, silly and totally un-serious; Lava  is almost like a child who wants nothing more than to have some fun. Of course this often leads her into trouble when she underestimates the danger of the situation.

Name: Amber
Species: Fenglin (penguin/cat)

Species Skills: Increased agility, exellent night vision and hearing, swimming
Personality: Prissy, posh and rude; Amber is also the complete opposite of Lava, and despises her 'older sister' with a passion.

Name: Bradford
Species: CatSquirrel (Cat/White Squirrel)
Appearence: Blue and Green heterochromatic eyes , Whitefur.

Postitive Skills:Able to run at high speeds, hearing and smell extremly high, due to gene splicing, is more dominant as a cat.
Negative Skills: Restricted sight in one eye side effect of gene splicing

Personality: Calm, prefers using defensive attacks, rather than offensive,  But determined to escape the lab.
Friendly but very shy, confusion on "oversized tail"
Self consious about how his fur is presented.

Name: Nortrix
Species: Catmeleon (cat/chameleon)
Appearence: body of a cat with scales of a chameleon
Species Skills: Heightened senses, excellent climber,temporary invisibility
Personality: happy most of the, time desperate  to escape and see the world,loves to help others but if need be he will fight viciously for his Friends, hates to see someone in pain.

Name: Frank
Species: Fox/Eagle
Appearance: Basically a normal fox with wings jutting from it's back
Species skills: Bird's eye view(allows him to see from far away). the ability to fly, and has a deft sneaking ability
Personality: Bloodthirsty, he's actually a little insane, he wants revenge for what the scientists did to him, has a soft spot for children

Name: Ty
Species: Ottrobat (Bat/otter)
Appearence: a large otter with smooth black fur and wings, bright red eyes, and long fangs, orange fur around his neck.
Species Skills: Sonar, flight, and a bit of a strange skill that seems to branch from his sonar echo location...sound projection.
personality: Outgoing, loves music, tends to not stand in the way of others...but tends to be rather creepy in the dark.

Name: Dural
Species: Wacra (Peacock, Wolf, Cobra)
Appearance: Multicoloured fur with a bright, almost neon, pink left ear that streaks down to form a crude ring around the neck. Fur sifts through many hues and shades of varying colour at a slow rate, excepting the bright pink on the left ear and it's extension, those don't change at all. The irises are filled with green, rimmed with a dark orange and bordered with a sharp jet black. Some small downy feathers are visible where hair would be on a human, the feathers follow the spine thinning completely out some where half-way down.
Abilities: Hollow fangs for a poisonous bite and semi camouflage
Personality: Has the capacity to be straight and serious though usually, is not. Not to be mistaken though, Dural's humor vocabulary probably consists mainly of sarcasm and a little dryness. The Wacra just doesn't really pay a great deal of attention to anything deemed "unimportant".

Name: Kal
Species: Panther/Wolf
Appearance: He is between the size of a panther and a wolf. While most of his features are panther he has an elongated jaw of a wolf. His eyes are obviously wolf-like
Species Skills: Kal is very agile and fast. His combined species give him an enhanced hunter's sense. He is extremely effective in the wild.
Personality: Kal is very withdrawn. People who get to know him learn that he is constantly looking out for others survival and protection.

Test tubes and vials of mysterious liquids gently bubbled in the lab. The lighting was almost creepy and had a slight green tinge, but it didn't seem to bother the lab's inhabitants. Several cages of various sizes were sprawled across the floor, but the animals in one where making a racket. Something was swinging from the bars at the top of the cage and singing 'Go Speed Racer Go' at the top of its voice. It had the build of a penguin, but was slightly larger, fluffier, had an extremely long tail and cat ears. Whatever it was, it wasn't natural.
"For heavens sake, Lava!" The other mutated penguin in the cage shouted "Get down from there or so help me I will come up there and-"
"Aww, you're no fun, Amber!" The other whined "Why don't you join in? Listen, you can sing along to the chorus! GO SPEED RACER, GO SP-"
"Shut up!" There was a loud bang as Amber pulled Lava down to the ground by the tail. "I never want to hear that song ever again! Where did you even hear it?!"

Frank sat in the darkness brooding. "If only I could wrap my claws around their necks." He chuckled to himself and plucked a feather from his wing. Frank studied the feather as he twiddled it between his thumb and forefinger. "Hmmm," Frank studied the interior of his cage, "No getting out of this by myself," he sighed and rolled over. Suddenly, Frank heard a distant creature screaming their lungs off. " Mother of God..." he mumbled.

Kal sat quietly in his cage. He was curled up much like a cat would. Despite the mixing of his genetics Kal was mostly panther-like. His wolf aspects mostly affected his mentality. He was extremely loyal and had a tendency to protect things. He currently was watching the door, though he was paying attention to nearly everything in the room, he found simple pleasure in keeping watch.

And again, same musty smell, same still sights, same steel floor. Most of the others seemed to be sleeping. Though, tinted unnatural light didn't exactly allow for the most perfect and pristine viewership. Dural smiled at the irony, having never actually experienced natural light before, only through colourful stories from some that came back- but had never left since and will probably never...

Turning some attention to the inside of this room, the Wacra yawned and rolled onto the empty, complaining stomach, watching the only current source of loud entertainment. Maybe one of them would eventually want to engage in starring marathon? One could not groom one's self forever.

in the dimmer light that hung over his cage, Ty hung upside down. His wings folded around his slim otterlike body. The bright red eyes of the bat in him stared across, watching and listening to one creature singing the theme to Speed Racer, and the other shouting at the one singing. He closed his eyes slowly "By the Shadow...." he said loudly "Can't anyone leave the Great Sound Waves undisturbed for at least five seconds? It's already distracting enough with the electrical buzzing."

"Honestly, Lava. You're such a child." Amber spat, smacking her older sibling across the head.
"But this lab is no ffffuuuunnnn!" Lava whined, rubbing the spot that her sister had whacked her. "All we do is sit in cages all day!"
"Yeah, just live with it!" She snapped, hitting Lava a second time "How about doing something that doesn't include shreiking at the top of your voice? You're upsetting the others." Amber smiled apologeticly at Ty. "Just ignore her. She's an idiot."

Ty shrugged "I wouldn't call her an idiot...she just needs more songs to sing." he said calmly. "Even I'm not familiar with the one she's...erm...screaming." he said, dropping off the top of his cage to land on the bottom "She's right though...this place isn't any fun." he admitted.

"No, it's not fun." Lava repeated, frowning. "I think we need to find a home that is funner!"
"Don't talk like that, Lava! This place is our home!" Amber waved a flipper to emphasize her point "Where would we go?"
"Outside!" Lava said mysteriously. Amber just rolled her eyes.
"Don't be stupid. Anyone who's left the lab has just been caught and brought back." She sighed "You need to start living in reality."

Ty's wings unfolded revealing his skinny otterlike frame and arms "Nice way to crush some much needed enthusiasm. Most people here are depressing." He said quietly, staring at Amber "Are you always this big of a pessimist?" he asked.

Kal sat quietly enjoying the entertainment. It was a rarity these days. Despite the distraction, Kal was far from becoming distracted. He dutifully watched the door. Over the time he had spent in the lab he had grown used to the scientists' schedules. He knew that it was almost time for one of the scientists to come in and do... something... he never knew quite what.

Almost the same instant he the telltale sound of footsteps come from outside the door. In a low voice that sounded like a combination of a hiss and a growl he warned the others "Someone approaches."

The scientist yawned slightly, not paying much attention to the creatures in the cages.
"I can't belive he's making me do this." he grumbled, walking towards the only computer in the room "A scientist of my degree feeding animals..." He lifted up a bucket of feed and started going around the cages. Lava watched and seemed fasinated by what the man was doing. Surprisingly, the animals and humans didn't comunicate much, even though it was well known that each and every experiment could speak.
