I'm getting a little bored with my MP3 player playing nothing but music over and over all the time so I'm looking for some radio plays/dramas in MP3 format to add to it in order to break up the monotony. I've already downloaded Chu's Slightly Damned radio play episode 1 and it was a nice diversion from the music.

So while google is my friend in finding some old 40s and 50s style dramas I'm also asking for help from the forums. If anyone knows some sites where I can find some of these plays would you provide a link? Also since I cannot torrent or convert files to MP3 format if anyone wants to send me any via e-mail you can at gskaloyan@gmail.com.

Also if you know of any good ones to look out for please fill me in okay? They don't have to be old ones like The War of The Worlds from the 30s, if you know of any that are new but made in a similar style, like Cu's Slightly Damned, that's fine too. Heck I'd even take the Fallout 3 Adventures of Herbert "Daring" Dashwood, since that's what gave me the idea to start.

My goal is basically to have my MP3 player feel more like it's tuned to a radio broadcast without all the really annoying ads you hear on regular radio nowadays, so old music is also very much welcome.

And yes, I have been playing too much Fallout 3. Upside down Cheesy

You can get a bunch of different genres of radio shows from iTunes - under "podcasts", search for Old Time Radio.

P.S. Fallout 3 is awesome

yes but I have to pay for itunes don't I? in any case, I found a lot of old time radio music and dramas at radiolovers.com.
Seems like a really good site, there was another where I found a great deal of ads but I forgot the site and didn't bookmark it, stupid me. I've gotten a lot on my MP3 player, even have a playlist set aside just for old time radio stuff.

While fallout is a great game it's a flimsy excuse for wanting to listen to these old programs to some, but I say whatever gets you listening and developing an appreciation for it.

Personally, Fallout 3 only rekindled my love of the 30s to the 50s, or raher since I love the 50s too I should say 30s to the 60s. I was raised on shows like the Beverlyhillbilies, I love Lucy, I Dream of Genie, The Andy Griffith Show and the like. Heck untill I was 5 or 6 I had no idea TV came in color.

My love for these times stayed with me through a lot of my life and my mother often used to joke I was born in the wrong decade.

But I've gotten off track and off topic; I'm still searching for stuff so if anyone wants to point me to other sites I'd be happy.

I appreciate the old shows, too, and I have listened to quite a few of the old radio plays.  I especially like the mystery and suspense ones!  There are actually quite a few "Old Time Radio" podcasts out there.  The one I subscribed to doesn't update any more, but there are tons of back-episodes to download.

I don't know about modern radio plays, though.  I guess in the age of TV soap operas the radio play is going the way of the dodo.  Although...I did listen to the kids' radio show Adventures in Odyssey quite a bit when I was younger.  Despite being a kids' show the writing quality and production quality are astounding.

Otherwise I am starting to listen to some audiobooks on my ipod.  They can be spendy, but if you get the download versions of older releases you can get them relatively cheap.

Oh, and if you're into the genre, there's a guy doing a "Cthulhu Podcast" featuring works of HP Lovecraft and other scary stories set in and around the 20s.
