Along time ago while attending school at Job Corp. Me and my friends played D&D (D20 Modern). I created this game based on all the mythology I had been studieing. Thinking on this. I might want to recreate it into a manga. what do you think?

This is the entro to the beggining.

Come, yes come sit around me. Listen close to my stories. And let drape silk curtains of myth and mysticism, stir dreams. truly all things that deceive may be called mystifying.

Our story begins in the fruitless land called Dis. Many tears stained these grounds with the crys for peace. Among this cursed land was weaved a fierce war that shock loose demons and beast far too ancient for magic and far to powerful for the will of man. The unsatisfied Gods hungered for dominance. Their spears and sword tore heavens and earth into two and left the house of man devastated. When the hour came that all hope may have been lost. The weakest took up the sword of war. Lead by tears and pain the ground was turned. In the last moments, a youth far too young to understand the ways of man, was stricken by Dens Lance. Grieven by the sacrifice, den dismounted Epion. Oh my sweet lamb, what short season doth thou live. What is left but nigh. May'hap All is not lost. Yes a gift, The fire of life shall burn once more. As the last god fell in death, Den gave her breath to the Children of men. That day, the rains in Dis came, and never ended. The youth of man grew without elders and knowledge was lost by time. The beast and demons receded into the darkest depths of the world, turn by the passing seasons to fairy tales and legends. Even now chaos lurks. The promise of life never to be broken. The age when Giants roamed worlds, land untouched where explored, and men moved mountains, will come once more. For in the deepest of darkness stirs a restless soul. for the balance of light and dark shall be tested.

In the south, Shrouded by darkness lies the cursed Island of Hepbathy. There the darkest of creatures fell. Rared from true darkness, it is but power given form. Its breath always lusting for destruction. It desire nigh. Long before man where of age, when the Gods where young. Chaos, mother of creation Sealed it away. No manner of chain nor rope could hold it. Nor tomb could slate. The Darkest neared its moment of triumph when Chaos loured it to the island Twilight. there the grass shined like stars and the flowers could subdue the fierce in heavy dream. as he walked, the lands died and air fell Ill. Nightmares casted about aimlessly. Heeding Chaos the Titans rose. Their grasp shakily holding the creature. Out of Man Innocence, Chaos created a Net of Chain. She casted and caught the darkness. Steadily she  dragged the creature to the depths of the Island. staked the edges of the net where the Seven Swords of Gleipnir.

In the belly of the earth swirls ancient magic. Before the crucible of time. the elder dwarfs summoned Gleipnir. Forged from the sound of a cat's foot step, The beard of a woman, The roots of a mountain, The sinews of a bear, The breath of a fish, And The spittle of a bird, the swords where invincible. All who held their grasp was granted Ultimate Victory over all who oppose. There the Titans stand holding the swords in the Dead Earth. Fearing its release, Chaos hide the Island. That only by silver track may one tread the unholy grounds. For the Island holds mans nightmares and true death. Spared by distruction of dis, the Island lays intact. At its center awaits the Darkness. Riving in agony it swallows the day. And creates nightmares. Ever calling for freedom, he romes the darkness in mans mind. seeking anyone who will heed his howls.

To be Continued~

To the west lies the Cathareo Empire. On these lush Field, surrounded by blue snow capped mountain Emperor Leo forged a shining Civilization. The center of a major trade route, the empire flourished with pride. The street grew rich with travelers and tradesmen. In the streets bards sung, poets weaved, and philosophers debated. Undefeatable the Giant walls could hold any enemy. And untested in strength the soldier patrolled the world around. A true beacon of human achievement, there was no greater honor then to serve the Emperor's Forces. When men became of age they where to prove their manhood to the emperor. Before the council they where charged to take on tasks of manhood.

Just a few miles outside the city grew a small Port Village. thriving on the great lake Eufoli. The village of fishermen and farmers brought wealth and prosperity. All through the Cobble stone street children laughed and toiled, Bakers created , Carpenters built, trades merchandise where hung, women shopped, and men worked. Finlay The day came Jal Garridan was of age. The son of a baker, he was poor. standing 5'8'' he wore raggedy linen clothes and short black hair. Well educated, he was taught at a young age by an elderly Gypsy woman named durriken. Casted from the city Durriken lived with a caravan in the village, where they acted and put on plays, gave fortunes, and read palms. In return for breads and pastries Durriken taught Jal. Over the years she grew fond of the young man and came to consider him as her own. Although this concerned Baul his over weight stately father.

Wondering the high grasses of the Fields out side the village Jal played with his childhood friend Syeira. Syeira Rawnie, the daughter of a Merchant Captain. stood fair and beautiful. Her long brown hair graced her green eyes and warm tone. dressed in a simple white and brown apron work dress and leather booties she bounded through the grass graceful with Jal laughing. Come on Syeira, your getting slow in your old age, ha ha! Jal chuckled glancing back. Am not!  I'll have you know, I am pacing my self. Call me old again and It'll be the death of you she yelled to Jal, who was a few yards ahead of her. Suddenly the winds swept the Fields bringing cool air and lifting Jal off his feet. Ouhf, ha ha ha laughed Jal laying in the grass. Fallowed by Syeira beside him. the two stared up at the calm Sky laughing. ooh, Jal? syeira paused looking over at him. hmm yeah? said Jal smiling. Tomorrow, what do you think Emperor Leo will have you do? she asked gently. I don't know, but the test is always something frivolous. Remember Oaklan. Ha ha, he had him hunt a Boar, ha ha ha Jal chuckled. I'm serious said Syeira as she moved closer to him. Your gonna be a man and that mean you'll have to take a wife? she said with stary eyes, as she rested her head across his open arm. Eh, uh Syeira what are... I mean, I have never seen you act like this before, he said nervously blushing. You promised you'd marry me, she said laxly. I eh, I did? he said. Sitting up quickly she starred down at him. You mean you forgot!? When we where on the hill, Papa was telling us about the stars, and you whispered to me, "When we are married lets come out here and watch the stars together" she huffed. Yeah but I was only six and you where five he sighed. You promised me! she said as tears welled up in her eyes. Sitting up Jal reached out and hugged her. I'm just surprised is all. I didn't know you felt this way, he said softly hugging her. I guess we have been friends so long I never gave it a real thought. I never thought a girl who beat me up so much, ha ha would grow up to be so beautiful. he laughed. uh, after the rose festival, right here in these Fields. is that ok he said smiling holding her. wiping away her tears she looked up smiling. really?! you mean it? she shouted. Yeah sure, right here on these hills, he notioned with a smirk. knocking him over into the grass, she clasped her arms around his neck kissing him. Come on lets go back to the village. It'll be dark soon and you don't want the Omlapid getting us do you? he said tickling her sides. the omlapid  doesn't come down from the mountain you lug head she giggled as she stood to her feet. Not true... I hear it comes down during a full moon. To feed on the Innocent, he said playfully looking up at Syeira from the ground. come on, get up before I leave you as fodder for the omlapid, syeira said pulling him up by his right arm. slowly Jal and syeira strolled toward the village reminiscing. Jal? papa is coming back to port tomorrow, I cant wait to tell him! after the your test, lets all have dinner she said clinging to his arm. her dress flowing in the cool breeze. Uh sure, he said blush and rubbing the back of his head. The day slowly passed as they returned to the village. As they arrived the market was alive with gypsy plays and performers. Fire eats, sword swallower's, fortune tellers, and Dancers entertained and collected money. The stores where light with a warm glow and thieves where on the prowl. Its getting dark, I'd better walk you home? he asked. Still clinging to his arm with a warm smile, she nodded her head gently. the night seemed to be filled with a thick glow and mystic. Oh ho, now where are you to off to this late said an elderly women's voice from behind. Ms. Durriken! good evening. said Jal turning to greet the short elderly gypsy women. who was dressed in a light brown exotically patterned dress crouched over a small walking Cain. Oh young love. You cant hide it, I can see it in your faces and in your hearts. It reminds me of Harry, rest his soul the crooked louse. she said politely. But he isn't dead, he just at the bar allot. sighed Jal. Never you mind that she retorted. but he was so charming back then. I remember he came back from hunting and slapped a rabbit on the table "Do something useful for once. and make me some stew." as I was skinning the rabbit and debating on skinning him, I found a ring. that night he purposed to me. I was so happy. she said stairing into space, her hands on here face. anyways you two young'ns should be heading in for the night. there are thieves out this late at night. its not safe, she said smiling. I gotta go collect my beloved, COME ON HARRY! she said smacking a man passed out at the street bar with her Cain. Euhur wha, wha, uh oh... time to go. said the tiny man standing up with his Cain. his legs where shaky  as he leaned over his Cain. Hey Jal, wow nice heifer you got thur! y'all hitchen up? don't make the same mistake I did he said laughing. shud it, come on. said Durriken smacking him with her Cain again and dragging him off. Good Night Ms.Durriken Jal shouted. Jal? you don't think we'll end up like that? said Syeira as they turn around. Only if we're luck, ha ha ha Laughed Jal as they walked along the store front. Euh, jerk! she shouted playfully punching his side. the night wore on as they neared her small cottage home. the deck was well cared for and the grass tended. the yard was full of flowers and lush grass. Jal? syeira asked as they crept closer to the door. yeah? Jal answered as they stopped at the door. That day in school when all those kids where picking on me and you stood up for me, you remember she said softly. yeah, they where teasing you about your dolly he said with a chuckle. I knew then, I liked you she said as she leaned in and kissed him. I'll see you tomorrow at the grand hall. everyone will be there she said as she opened the door. I know, I'll be looking for you as I'm walked into the counseling room said jal standing at the door. Love you, good night said Syeira leaning in and kissing him once more and quickly shutting the door before he could say anything. as he walked home stairing at the stars, a voice rang out from behind in the vacant midnight streets. Excuse! Are you Jal Garridan! Turning around Jal was surprised to be standing in front of Sir.Tristram Emperor Leos highest white knight. Shimmering with short gold hair and silver breast plate, shin guards and arm braces. he stood tall like and unwavering, his long sword set at his side with his white clothing underneath. his white boots seemed motionless as if he obeyed no order from gravity. Yes, I am Jal Garridan. whats wrong. am I in trouble for something? he said wearily. No, My orders ARE, to bring all Youths to be tested, to King Leos counseling chamber before morning come. Now come with me. Sir.Tristram said bluntly.  As they walked from the village to the Field, Jal felt awkward. What about my family? I think they will be worried. he said as he walked beside Sir.Tristram. Don't worry that has been taken care of. as we speak two guards are talking with them now. All has been considered he said lifelessly as they walk through the Field at a fast pace. Hurry up kid, the Walls are only an hours walk, don't slow pace. said Tristram as the walls of the Empire became noticeble over the hills. the city shined blue in the moon light. the towering temples and palaces didn't seem real and the was was so tall no man is said ever to climb it.

As Jal and Sir.Tristram neared the gate they could not anticipate what stir inside.

As midnight neared Roy Balncel A Common soldiers guard, was pacing his nightly round. Through the quiet deserted streets, he walk calmly observing everything in sight. The Twilight blue atmosphere made the city glow. the towering creamy buildings where shut. no door where open and all windows where drawn.  A Quit eery calm filled the streets as he walked along. Head toward center court. he noticed himself in cats water dish lade by the front door of a shoe shop.Glancing down he saw himself Dressed in a common soldiers metal breast plate and guards. Dressed in the Hight of imperial power. He felt sick. his Grey shorts and shirt laded underneath with brown trim. At his side he gripped a common gladius. out of the night a sudden clanking noise sounded startling Roy. Eeeh! he turned gripping his sword at his side as he swiftly turned around. Only to notice a Grey tabby had knocked over a copper vase. letting go of his sword he gave a heavy sighed and looked on toward the castle. There's Something foul in the air he said to himself as he turned. Once again shocked to see a rather old man standing in front of him. the man was in his elderly age. He was slightly leaned over as he clutched his twisted, spiky, light green walking stick. dressed in a white and light blue horizontal striped rob, he carried a small bag. Euh! Roy jumped. Er, uh old man? Its not safe to walk the streets at night! Are you a traveler? Roy stated in a stiff pose. Well now, I am tired. My name is Silggew. And yes I am a traveler. Now I am an old man, and obviously your a young soldier? asked the elderly man kindly smiling. Yes sir, I am a Cathareo soldier. How can I assist you? Roy asked. Ha ha ha well wonderful, said Silggew as he clapped his hands together. Now I just arrived in Cathareo. And I am very tired. Could you help an elderly man to an Inn? Silggew smiled as he lightly tugged Roys left shirt sleeve. Sure said Roy as he help support the elderly man. Walking through the night streets Roy could'nt help but ask. Are you new to Cathareo?

Well, yes I am, said Silggew. I have travel from far, far away land. I have come to see tomorrows events. I hear every season there is a festival. Now they say that when boys become of age, they are to prove their manhood? ask Silggew. Well Yes, All males born in Cathareo are to take part in this ritual eventually. said Roy as they turned a corner. So you to, have taken part? ask the old man creeping along at a slow pace. Well... no. I was born in small village out side the empire. said Roy as they turned another corner. Now I my eyes ar'nt too old. But where are we headed? asked Silggew. To the Niebs Inn, said Roy. No, no, now that wont do. There's a lovely little Inn, to the east side of the city said Silggew as he gently slapped Roys arm in gesture. I thought you where new to this city? asked Roy looking down at the elderly man. Oh ho ho, well yes I am. Now, I heard from a friend about the Inn. I hear it is inexpensive to boot. said Silggew smiling as they turned and walked eastward. Now, Roy? what brought you to Cathareo? asked Silggew. I don't know. When I was a child my village was burnt to the ground by an enemy country. And I was the only survivor. I was rescued by Soldier and drifted here. After living in convent, I decided to become a soldier. All men must go to work eventually I suppose. And, so here I am. Roy said starring forward. A soldier Roy sighed looking down a little. Hrmm. most people are proud to become an imperial soldier. Oh well now, we are here. I wish you the best young soldier, Said Silggew as he crept toward the door of the small unmarked house waving. Roy watched the elderly man enter the Inn. I guess most would be, Roy thought to himself as he started his walked back.

As Roy approached the center court and neared the fountain, he sighted two figures approaching from the gate. HALT! Who Goes There! Shouted Roy gripping his sword as he walked toward the figures. Stave your sword, That's An Order Soldier Said one of the figure as they came close enough to be seen. Sir.Tristram! said Roy as he quickly came to a salute.  At ease, Your not in trouble. its nice to see my guards are doing their jobs, said Sir.Tristram lethargically as he and Jal neared. Roy returning to his normal stance glancing to see Jal. Another Thief huh? Roy asked as Sir.Tristram came to a halt in front of him. No, This young man was summoned by Emperor Leo. You may return to your normal duties soldier, Said Sir.Tristram as he walked around Roy. Jal all the while stood crouched catching his breath. Come Jal. The Emperor awaits, Sir.Tristram calmly and emotionlessly sighted . Uh sorry, coming. Jal yelled as he ran forward to meet Sir.Tristram. Don't Dawdle Said Sir. Tristram as they walked toward a large stair case leading to Emperor Leos Palace. As the walked toward the Main doors Jal could feel a Shiver going up his spine. he quickly whipped his head to the left. Sitting on a small balcony was a dark figure. his stair seemed to penetrate Jals soul. As Jal walked forward he could feel his leg becoming heavier and his breath shortening. then as suddenly as he had appeared, the figure walked back into the castle. several yards ahead Sir.Tristram was becoming angry with Jal. Hurry Up Kid! Sir.Tristram yelled looking back. Soon the agonizing walk ended as they approached the final steps. Entering the doors Jal could see the inside of the Palace. The main hall ahead, was cavernous and void. Toward the walls set large pillars and Large windows draped with white and  light blue silk. Everything seemed overly clean, slick, and shiny in the moon light. as they walked the empty halls a chilling breeze flowed threw the windows. Why are there no lights? Jal asked Quiet. you are not permitted to talk. When you greet the king, you will kneel and bow. You are not to speak to the Epiror Leo. afterwords you are to retire to a room. Said Sir.Tristram coldly as they entered the main chambers. Entering the Chamber, Jal spotted the Empiror slumped over in his Throne. The floors where lade with red and gold velvet carpeting. The large u-tangled room supported large pillars circling around from both sides. To the left sat a table. Laying on it was what seemed to be rotten food. Jal began to notice the stench as he entered through the doors. Go now, said sir Tristram pointing at the throne. cautiously Jal approached the Empiror and knelled. The Empirors flesh seemed pastie white and his eyes where washed. Slouching lifelessly and limp he seemed motionless. Approaching Jal knelled and bowed his head. Oh yes, the boy from Eufoli port. The stars for told your arrival young man. Look up that I may see you, said a cricked voice. as he looked up he noticed a a slender man posed next to the throne. Well groomed and overly dressed in a black cloak and Cain he seemed omeness. His smile twisted under its purple lipstick as he leaned down to Whispper to the Empiror. Finlay reserving a fare glance he noticed the poor shape the king was in. The king seemed almost lifeless slouched over in his throne wearing a knight gown and Grey slippers. Hardly the figure to rule a glorious empire. after saying a few word the man leaned back up and smile down at Jal. Sitting up slightly the Empiror pointed at Jal and Began to speak. The boy will here by prove his manhood by slaying the omlapid. Tomorrow Sir.Tristram will send him with two soldiers of his fitting chose. The boy will bring back the head of the omlapid for my throne trophy.

Leaning forward the man spoke out. Yes! Clearly an excellent decision you majesty. The boy will surely slay the beast. A fitting choose, Yes fitting indeed! Said the Man as he revealed his pointy purple painted fingers and pointed clearly at Jal Who was kneeling stunned. Sir.Tristram, come retrieve this boy. take him to his chambers and feed him. Tomorrow he will journey. Be sure to pick the soldiers to journey with him wisely as I said, the man cackled. then without a word the man walked behind a pillar to the left and disappeared out of sight. Get up and fallow me! said Sir.Tristram standing by the Chamber doors. Still Stunned Jal did not noticed Sir.Tristram. Slowly Sir.Tristram gripped Jal by the back of his shirt and pulled him up. I said UP! Sir.Tristram shouted. Still stunned Jal was unable to move. Right! then I will drag you, said Sir.Tristram as he pulled Jal by the back of his shirt collar. around the many large white palaces hall Sir.Tristram dragged Jal.  After a thirty minute ordeal finally ended. Sir.Tristram made it to a small wooden door. opening it he revealed a very small room with no light or windows. setting on floor in the corner of this the empty damp room, was a ragged blanket. Sleep Well, Said Sir.Tristram as he bums rushed Jal into the room. and slamed the door shut. As Jal laid on the ground he curled up. Tear fell from his face as he thought to himself, all the things he has lost. Surely the beast would devour him. What horrors awaited him.

Mean while, Roy was returning to the castle. As he entered the main chambers he spotted Sir.Tristram exiting the left hallway. Standing to attention Roy starred forward. Sir.Tristram noticing Roy, spoke as he walked casualy toward him. You, Your name. He stated bluntly. Soldier, Third Class Roy Balncel, Sir! Roy Stated at attention. Tomorrow you will assist Jal Garridan on his Right to Manhood. Jal Garridan is to slay the Olampid. should he succeeds, you will be raised to Knighthood. Should he fail, you will be put to death. You are to return to the Imperial chambers at dawn. Do I make my self clear. Said Sir.Tristram in a lifeless, cold tone. Yes, stated Roy.

before day brake, people began to gather around the steps of the palace. As Roy neared the palace step, he could over hear the locals.

Oh I wonder what Leo will have of him? Said a Ladies voice.

Ha ha probably clean his royal throne with a tooth brush,
ha ha ha said a mans voice.

Roses for Sale! cried a merchant waltzing through the crowed.

Excuse Me, ho ho Roy! said an elderly mans voice.

Turning around Roy noticed silggew approaching at a slow pace. Ho, ho my boy. Wonderful to see you again. Are you heading for the ceremony? said Silggew as stopped in front of Roy. Well yes, how are you feeling? said Roy. leaning forward on his Cain silggew answered. I am doing fine, but I think I need to have a talk with you. Can you come with me? Confused Roy fallowed Silggew to an empty cafe'. Inside the cafe' looked as though it had been closed for years. dust had collected on the empty bar and on the chipped cups. The tables where a flipped and the chairs where broken. cobwebs hung from almost every corner. stopping in front of the door Silggew looked back at Roy and smiled. Alright, aren't we lucky! he said swiftly as he waved his hand over the lock. immediately the door cricked open and Silggew casually crept in and took a seat on a dust stool. How did you do that? asked Roy as he walked in. Simple, Magic, Silggew said with a smile. So your a Wizard? asked Roy standing near the door. Well, Yes but first. could you be so kind as to shut the door for me? Silggew asked as he pointed his Cain at the door. Ah yes sorry, said  Roy as he shut the door. setting his Cain on the bar Silggew began to speak.

A long time ago I was known by another name. William green I think it was. I became a wizard oh... I'd wager about nine hundred years ago.

Listening, Roy leaning against a flipped table post.

Now During my travels I became well known for my white magic. I was a gentler person back then. And through my traveles I came to a small City called Lati. While I was curing, I found something very interesting. A young orphan named Nis was being cruelly abused by the towns people. Now Nis was a sorcerer mind you. And adolescent Sorcerers are not the best at controlling their powers. Far as I had heard he accidental burnt down an orphanage while he slept. So the Towns people banished him from the city. I think they feared him more then hated him. I couldn't help feeling sorry for the young'n. So I offered to take him with me. As we traveled I taught him magic and he grew on me. Even then, I began to notice there was something wrong. He had a terrible disposition. Now, I figured he would mature out of this, But he didn't. There where times I thought he had gone mad.

Finlay a day came when he rebelled and left. I lost track of Nis for a few centuries. Until one day, I tracked him down to the great library of Treval. It seems he had locked him self In the forbidden crypt of kard. Utilizing one of my barrier spells, he kept himself secure for weeks. there he read and studied forbidden magic. When I had Finlay managed to brake the barrier it was too late. Nis had completed his studies. To my horror he emerged as a new being. All that was left of Nis was nothing more then a shell. the thing dewling inside was wicked. I confronted him, but all he would do was laugh. Before I was defeated he had managed to destroy the entire city. said Silggew pausing.

So that's what happened to Treval? but that was two hundred years ago? what does that have to do with me? asked Roy puzzled

Well, Silggew continued. Two hundred years ago, me and Nis battled. Ripping the Sky's and tearing the ground with lightning and fire. we battled to the death. I was amazed by his awesome power. then at the entrance to the grand library that I found the source of his power. Strapped to his back was the fabled sword Gram. I had not choice to stop him. I used the remains of my power to raise the city into the sky. creating the mushroom shaped mountain you see today. Drawing the sword he stroke the final blow to my head. In my last act I summoned and ancient binding spell. My love for my him is what bounded the sword to my head. And made it impossible to be drawn by his hands. when I died my body was twisted by the darkness. As the centuries passed the hatred Nis had displayed made the foul beast that lurks, what is now known as the royal grave yard....
sighing Silggew reached in his left pocket.

I came from very far away, so very far away. Tears began to fall from his eyes as he pulled a crystal from his pocket. My soul can not rest until he is stopped. Roy, I need you to pull the sword from its head. you must bring Gram to me. My soul can not remain in the plain for very long. The emperors new councilor is, if I am correct Nis himself. Slowly, but surely he is drawing the life from the emperor. And soon he will succeed the emperor. We cant help this, but there is still a chance that the light can out shine the darkness. I was sent here by the light as an ambassador. Roy we need your help. Soon the balance of light and Darkness will be tipped and there will be nothing to stop him.

Today you must not look into Nis's eyes. he will have you to kill the the Omlapid and return empty handed. but you must bring me the sword stuck in its head. If Nis should acquire it. then all is lost. Standing somberly Silggew dried his tears.

But the Omlapid is invisible? how can I stop him? said Roy confusingly staggering to his feet. As Silggew walked towards the door he gave his answer. Now that's simple. His horn is the actually the swords Handel. If you can just grasp it, then victory is yours. But be warned you can not use the sword. There are evils that remain in the sword. you must bring it to me. he finished as he turned the door Handel.
