Was a little bored tonight and decided to browse the Net. While viewing mascot/fursuit costumes has gained my interest over the years while being in the furry fandom, I have also been interested in other non-furry costumes that people make based on tv, books, anime, films, etc. A lot of the talent and creativeness that people put into their costumes is nothing short of AMAZING.  Shocked Some could even be on the same skill level as that coming out of Hollywood studios. While browsing around, I came upon the following examples from this year's Dragon Con 2009 event:

This has to be the best! Underworld werewolf (or werewolf/vampire hybrid?) costume.  Shocked

It just boggles the mind how some people can either be so creative in making their own costumes for anime or other cons, or are able to afford the thousands of dollars to commission someone to make these.  Shocked If I hadn't gotten into the furry fandom, I probably would have joined the 501st Imperial Legion with my own Stormtrooper uniform or other outfit long ago.

So I'm curious.........How many of you ever thought of making or buying some other type of non-furry costume for anime or another con? What would you be from movie, tv, book, comic, etc.?

P.S. - Does anybody know places that you can commission from for realistic stuff such as the Halo armor or the werewolf costume, etc.?

I thought about the mjolnir (halo) armor but i realised there really wasn't anything i could do with it if i ever made it.  It's one thing in a fursuit...  but what can you do with body armor if you're not planning to be a congoer?

I /did/ Make a Monty Python Spanish inquisition (No one expects the spanish inqusition!)  uniform for halloween a couple years ago.  A friend and i both...

There was this lady on our block that would roleplay a witch very well.... put on a whole show for all the kids...  She basicly told me i was only going to get anything in trade for a kiss,  puckered her lips and started walking towards me.

My friend,  without missing a beat,   held up his giant gold cross and drove her back.  She screamed and slammed the door.

We even had,   The Rack!

Does that count?

Looen cloth, A large Stick.

And I also had a Pink Rabbit suit when I was 4.
I only used it during halloween. The women ate me up.

I'm hoping to get some outfits ready for Comic Con, with me as a Smiley and my friend as the White Rabbit (both from Manhunt). He's already got the Smiley mask and rabbit suit down pretty good, so just need a few more details left.

At every convention I go to (especially the big ones like Comic Con and Fanime), I am stunned at how some of the outfits turn out. People are ridiculously creative, and can make stuff that definitely looks as good as it does in whatever they're portraying (and when said thing is something animated, that's especially impressive).
