[I have earned Three Carrots of Awesomeness]

I am new to this community so thought I'd post here for a little greeting.

* Mind telling us how you happened upon our friendly community?
I am an office worker (secretary) and have quite a bit of spare time on my hands here, but have a very strict firewall that blocks the majority of my game and social sites that I normally hang out in at home. Craving a furry community I can access while at work, i stumbled onto this site after a bit of google searching. Hopefully I can fit in and be a contributing member to the forums on a regular basis.

*How long have you been in the fandom?
Very easy for me to pinpoint. The first time I became involved was during the halloween season way back in 1988 (yep, 20+ years ago). I worked at a retail Dept Store (not going to name it unless they pay me for advertizing) when still a high School student, and next door to us was another store called Parklane Hosiery. It was a specialty store that catered to the Dance/Aerobic industry, but has since gone out of business many years ago. Anyway, Parklane always sold spandex/lycra tights and leotard sets during halloween for costuming. I liked some of the prints so I bought 3 or 4 different animal species. That year, I dressed up as a Leopard and did my own makeup for it. I also took 1st place in the retail store's contest. So, after getting a nice bump of $50 in my paycheck that week and seeing that I enjoyed being a Leopard that day, i was pretty much hooked from that point on with the whole anthropomophic thing.

* How long have you been a fur (not all members of the fandom are furs)?
See my above answer to thsi question. But i will add in that I had kinda only recently made the switch from just a halloween furry to a Con goer furry. Back in 1993 i attended a Convention for fans of the online game called EverQuest in Chicago. I dressed up as one of the creatures in that game called the Vah Shir. Again, after doing my first con in fur, i was hooked. Since that event, I've attended a Midwest Fur Fest and a couple of private functions and still continue to fur it up during halloween. This year, at MFF 2009, I will be debuting my very first full fursuit. Its taken me the better part of 6 months to build it, but I will have my Okapi all set. Just working on the last few accessories for it now.

* What interests you about the fandom?
The Community. I have attended comic cons, sci-fi fantasy cons, RPG gaming cons and other stuff, but i have never felt more welcomed then in the Furry Community. i have never seen a groups of people so open minded and friendly to all then the furries. It really impressed me.

What language is "epulu" actually in - Swahili? And I'm guessing Liedt is Afrikaans?

Sorry to say, but thats a no on both, but good guesses, very close. The language is from the Mbuti, the indigenous tribe from the Congo. My name is taken from German. Since German is a major part of the Africaans language, I guess you get half credit for that. Liedt is taken from the German word for Song. I'm a hobbyist musician so i wanted some type of a musical reference for my name.

Yeah German-inspired names!  Was the first thing I thought of when I saw your name.

Been chatting on Imvu for a little over a year and prior to that on various gaming forums especially related to EverQuest and LotRO. In every incarnation, the name Liedt is somehow tied in since I'm a one-horse pony and doubt i could even remember multiple sign on names anyway.

*noms on the kit-kat* Fresh or late, its still a kit-kat. The only bad Kit-kat is when its an empty wrapper.

Funny kit-kat story from a couple years ago. Not long after i inherited my dog, an itialian breed called a Maremma (or Conti Pastori Marammo) he had his first halloween in the States. What i didn't realize yet, was his deep love of chocolate (before anyone tells me chocolate is bad for dogs, i disagree, his size can digest it no problem). After halloween, and the drunken bliss that followed, it was time for bed. What i didn't do was put the un-distributed candy away. I thought it was fortunate that there were not too many kids that year, as i bought a bag of teh kit-kats specifically for me. Well, during the night, Mr. Dog thought he'd sample some of that candy. Well, actualy, he ate all of it. For the next couple days it was amusing when he started to umm extricate the tin foil wrappers from his system. He never did get sick and I've learned never to leave chocolate in his reach.
