The forums keep only loading half way, mostly in large topics.
Is this part of the server problems?

I find everything lods OK, just not always the style-sheet, forcing me to reload to read it *shrug*

There was a "bad" server crash this evening around 8PM EST.  It happened right when we were on the road to Morphicon.

For the first time in three years I had to call in a reboot request.  Anyways the server is back online and I am investigating into the cause of the crash.  Let me know if you notice any Forum problems from this event.

Well I finaly found the cause of the mysql outage last friday.  Same one that caused the outage this friday.

Basicly a error on some tables was causing mysql to shut down when the database backup ran.  I found the errors this morning and fixed them.  So everything should be back on track.

Ok I just updated and optimized PHP on Furtopia.  I'm hoping we'll see a decent speed increase on PHP scripts running in user accounts.  

If you run your own forums/gallery let me know if the responce time has picked up (hopefuly) or slowed down for you.

Ok at 3AM EST I will bring Apache offline to do an upgrade.  Expected downtime will be 10-30 min.  During this time Furtopia hosted websites as well as Furtopia's main page will remain offline during the upgrade (to Apache 2.0.54).  cgi.furtopia.org will remain "online" which includes the forums.  However the pointer domain name forums.furtopia.org will also be offline.  So have a link into the forums if you wish access at that time.

The main reason for this, one of our Furtopia members has uploaded some new furry content to his web site (legit furry content).  The hits/bandwidth usage on our server just from his site alone has been off the record from any of our past usage all at once.  In the last few days this one site has been pulling anywhere from 40-50 GIGs of bandwidth per day in hits.  O.o  As furs download their content from his site I do expect the bandwidth usage to drop as time goes on.

Although we actualy have the feeds to support the load it was CPU usage from the mass huge influx of hits that was slowing things down.  Well past months I've had bene tinkering with some ideas in my brain that I thought would give us a big boost on efficiency (RAM caching or sites, pre-compiling PHP code, MYSQLD on it's own HD, and auto route sellect mass connections to a seperate efficiency tuned non apache HTTPD service).  Well this left me scrambling in one night to see if I could get all these "ideas" tested and done.  I did, it appears... hopefully.  

For an extra $100/month I can double our bandwidth feeds and I'll be upgrading to a dual xenon 2.8 ecc server.  Just need to work out the money part with so much going on taxing me and Kada.   In the mean time I'll just have to stick to using my brain to push the efficiency limits on our server keeping things running smooth as I always have. Nope..  it's a popular fox who makes good animations.  The demand on the system from his site used more bandwidth than the entire of Furtopia and ALL of it's artists sites combined.  That's a LOT more data than most people realize. It took me an hour to configure the site for the added hit load and it seems to be handeling the work quite well.  

Do to the subject matter of his site.  I'll post more details in the adult area of our forums.

Furtopia's "Dice Rollem" for online RPG games has now been fixed.  I also added some extra code to make it more stable.  

Basicly this is a online dice rolling program for RPG.  However it has a good "cheat prevention" setup as it allows review of any players dice rolling history.  Thus keeping competive games of chance fair.

The RPG sections of the forums includes a quick button to launch the dice roller.
