My last bit of good news is that I actually tested my whole radio direction finder setup.
It actually worked! I am very surprised, because this was all made in pieces, and those pieces slapped together in 1 hour. This was not a kit that was guaranteed to work, it was my own design. So it was guaranteed to fail.
Previously, I had no idea if it would really work at all! Turns out it really kicks tail!

It can sense the direction to within 1/2 a degree pretty easy when signal is strong. It can even tell the general direction of arrival for very weak signals as well! I was able to find a host of things in one half of one afternoon. I could see the display show direction to tower on a mountain (as expected), and then the direction to a guy driving and talking on his ham radio. The thing also found direction to a few interfering signals like a DVD player in my house, and something across the street. Thankfully... one thing the direction finder did NOT find was the signals the direction finder emits its self (these are signals it SHOULDN'T be making).
Not sure exactly how to "calibrate" this beast. Not sure if this thing really is going on my jeep like I had thought.
IDK. It was fun, and now it is over. The build up was the best part.
I am calling it the "Ghetto RDF".
ahh back to work...(I hate work)
we lost 2 more employees due to quitting.
