Harness's? thoughts? should i get one to wear?
« on: May 18, 2015, 01:36:03 pm »
So I have often wore a collar had to stop for a bit cause it was giving me neck issues. I wear a cat collar as a bracelet at the moment. Anywho I am thinking about getting a harness. Was wondering if anyone has any experience with them? Also thoughts on wearing them in everyday life? Have they ever caused issues with like sore muscles or chafing or such?

My fursona is a non-anthro lion who works pulling things for a living and he wears a harness most days.

Thanks

The only time I see furries wearing harnesses are some of the husky fursuiters because husky  dogs are known for pulling sleds in arctic conditions.
As for wearing a harness IRL, well, that might make you look like, and give the impression to others, that you were into some sort of adultish/fetish stuff. I can't really say any more as that is a topic better suited to the Adult forums. But if it were me, I wouldn't wear a harness IRL. Better to keep that kind of stuff at home if you want to wear it.

I'm going to have to agree with Kobuk--wearing a harness without a fursuit to accompany it falls under a fetish category for outsiders looking in. If you want to know more about it, we do have an Adult section of this site (provided you are 18+).

Gotcha. Does anyone have any tips on collars? I wore one and it made my neck stiff. It was a regular dog one and I had it as big as it would go cause i am not a fan of things tight around my neck. I only had the tag on the D-ring.

Thanks

Collars can feel odd until you get used to them. I started out wearing a very soft nylon cat collar to get used to the feel of something around my neck and worked up from there.

Wolf by night here, draft horse by day. I wear my harness for a day at a time but only now and then, usually when I am pulling my handler in her cart. A well designed one will fit you well, especially if it's leather since it will break in and conform to your body. A poorly designed or ill fitting harness will feel like shoes that don't fit.

I made my own harness out of Biothane (you can catch cheap factory outlet rolls on ebay sometimes), and I could feel every mistake that I made until I fixed it. But I learned a lot, and now I know what I did right and what I want to do differently for my next harness, which I plan on making from leather.

On a related note, I also wear a halter or bridle when I'm pony-ing out, since horses normally don't wear collars.
