I've managed to get my roommates mother to agree to make me a set of ears and a tail, providing I don't use them to freak her out (drat! `v' ). But I have no idea how one can make the feathered ear tuft of a gryphon (see the avatar pic, nice work btw Ulario ^v^). Does any one have any sugeustions? I'm also trying to figure out how to make a pair of gryphons foreclaws ( a set of gloves) for my hands. They would be scaled with talons. If any one has any info they would be willing to share it would be very apreciated ^v^

THe idea I know od is to actually sew the long napped faux fur into the seam of the outside edge of a shorternapped ear. I did it when I did wings for a beaniesize gryphon. As for foreclas theres a type of fabric that has little clear scales fixed to the fabric. Ive not seen it for sale here but it does exist.
 Ill scan winddancers wing so you can see how they came out and post it here in a little bit.
EDIT : heres windancer I did him from 2 beanies and sewed the longer faux fur in the seams for the wingsfeathers and ear tufts.. hes pretty old now but I still love him. Looks better if you dont put it in the dreyer on too hight a setting.

Lots of glue and turkey feathers..
I made a gryphon suit once a while back and...it was lots of glue and turkey feathers.  ^^;;

For my scaly hands, I found some cloth that had a  print that looked like chicken-foot-scales.   So I was lucky.    Good luck with yours, though!
NYA!  =^_^=

Thats very nice Savaaha, but I was looking for a way to do actual feathers. Not that a set like that wouldn't be awsome, because they would, I just got it stuck in my stubborn little skull to have real feathers. BTW what shades do turkey feathers come in? And what type of glue did you use Katty?

I was acutally thining about making a gryphon costume for the Michigan Ren Fest this year.  The face is going to be my first attempt at a full fursuit head.  I'm making it with plastic mesh, foam rubber, and feathers.  I've already got the tail.  I'll be using the one I made for my Ulario costume... though it's a bit big and drags on the floor.

For the talons, I was going to modify a pair of gloves by adding the large plates of skin on the top of the hand and fingers with either suede or felt and then paint the rest of the hand with a reptillian skin pattern.
