When I was younger my dad got me a plushie tiger, I've had him for years-took it to primary school, took it out on family trips even when my family went on holdiday (I really loved that tiger.)
When I was 14 I found out my dad had lung cancer, then at 16 sadly he passed away from a combination of cancer and a clot in his brain.
I had stopped sleeping with my plushie tiger for a long time as I had lost it, but after my dad has passed it turned up on my pillow.
I asked all my family who put it there, but as far as they were concerned my tiger had been thrown away years ago.
Ever since then I have slept with my tiger beside my pillow as it reminds me of how much I loved and continue to love my dad :).

What a memory! I've even heard such a story that when my Mum, my aunts (her sisters), and my grandparents (their parents) were on a driving journey to Spain in the '60s, my Mum's teddy bear even had its own passport! So every time they reached passport control, that passport would've been presented as well as everybody else's!  :goldlaugh:

Aww thank you all for your concern :).
It was a very hard part of my life but I know he's gone to the hall of his forefathers and is in the honour seat waiting for us all to meet him again.
It's just nice to have that link to him now he's gone, soppy I know lol.

 I have quite a few plushies,and yes I sleep with one at bedtime. Its in the SECOND picture here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/hybridchoky/5002052372/ I need to take a better pic where you can see better,but basicly just think brown and white bunny with a black and silver cat collar. I love the bunny in the first pic too but its not the one I sleep with,it was just for the photoshoot,normally its away in the closet with another rabbit plushie I have.

Oh I don't mind at all! That is too funny! My aunt got it for me a few years back for Easter since purple was one of my favorite colors and I love plushies.

BTW, you're plushie story was very touching. What a sweet memento to hold onto.

You know, I've never been a "plushie person" until I started making videos (read: "playing") with my puppets.  Now I like the idea of having something to hug.  Today (literally ten minutes ago) I bought a plush husky in the student union.  There was a "stuff-your-own-plush toy" booth up for valentines day, and I got a big husky for just $5 :)

To be honest, though, I felt a little weird--college guys aren't supposed to like plushies, right?--so I indirectly fibbed about who it was for.

Thanks :)  Maybe it just comes from growing up in an environment where traditional roles were strongly favored.  The furry fandom has done a lot to resuscitate what I think are natural aspects of my personality which got beat down in my past.  It has been a major stress relief, among other things.  For some reason you just can't stay high-strung when you're cuddling a soft puppy! :3
