Cat tail?
« on: July 03, 2004, 03:23:51 am »
How would you make a cat tail for a domestic cat? I kinda' want one long and flexible. With fairly short fur.. But I don't really know how to go about making it. Can anyone help?

Also, does anyone have any tips for a kind of fabric to use instead of faux fur? I wanna' make a pair of ears and I want them soft, but not too furry. @_@

You know the stuff that tose Beanie Babies are made out of? You could use something like that for ears and a tail.

Basicly, a cat tail is a long tube, there's not really much to it.

If you want it to swish behind you when you walk you'll have to put something besides just stuffing in it. My mother made me a tiger costume when I was little, and I think she put a really stiff rope in the tail. You'll have to experement but it's a nice effect. I remember it had a natural curl to it and looked really neat when I walked. Maybe I can dig that thing up again... I think it's buried in my dump of a closet.

I've read that a metal chain inside, under the layers of stuffing, helps a tail swish around naturally. Plus, if someone gets on your nerves, you can always Tail-Whip 'em.  '<img'>
