A question about my snouts proportions
« on: October 15, 2012, 05:13:23 pm »
Do you think my snout looks long enough for a wolf or a husky? So you know the nose is not glued onto the snout yet and the snout is not glued to the base so it will not be a problem if the snout is too short. I got lots of foam lol.

It looks a little short given the height of the head.

I have to ask.  Did you make your head by hollowing out a gourd?

I agree with Criscringle, it does seem sort given the way the head is constructed.
Perhaps before you make any final decisions, you could take some scrap paper and test out different snout measurements/proportions and pick the one you like the best.
Just wondering: What kind of material is the head made out of?

Doing a Google image search and looking at real pictures of the animals will help a lot in figuring out head, ear, muzzle, etc. proportions. :)

Pictures of the real thing, as well as art of more toony subjects, is a great way to work these things out.

I'll take a guess at the material, it appears to be carpet padding. I would be careful, this stuff could be glued or bonded with chemicals that might cause a problem. Your head will heat up while wearing it, out gassing of the foam and it's components might not be good. It is also not the most durable, it may come apart in a short time. There is a fair amount of stress, putting the head on and off. Hopefully it's new, and will last long enough to be worth it. I would not even want to think about using old carpet padding.  :P
