Making a shark "fursuit"
« on: April 10, 2013, 12:46:35 am »
Really, this is only a partial "fursuit". I haven't started on this yet (only just came up with the idea), but I was wondering if anyone knows good materials I could use. What I need is a material I can make a tail and fin out of (like foam or something, I really don't know), and a material I could make the nose out of. The nose is just going to be a triangular thing over my nose a bit most likely (I need to come up with designs), but a material that could work like that would be very much appreciated.

One other thing, I need my body to be silver. I'd like to avoid silver body paint and go with maybe a jumpsuit or something, but I wouldn't really know what to look for.

Thank you!

I've seen a few orca and dolphin fursuits made with what's called "seal fur". It's fur fabric that has a really, really short pile to it.

That could be a maybe. Honestly, I'd be totally fine if it wasn't fuzzy at all. :o I sort of prefer it, actually, since sharks and such aren't fuzzy themselves. :3

You could try for a latex suit (usually inflatable I believe):

I'm not that familiar with those types of suits. Most I could tell you is that they are mostly (but not necessarily all) associated with the more "adult" side of the furry fandom which I can't explain in this thread.

D'aww. If you want you could always PM me about it. Nothing sexual really shocks me anymore. And I highly doubt that this would.

Mine are sewn PVC (so not inflatable) but yeah, something like that would probably work pretty well for a shark. :3

I made them.  (Not for myself, these were commissions for customers)  As for how... er.  Pretty much like any fursuit, just substitute PVC fabric for fur fabric. :3
