Plushie fur care,is this helpful at all?
« on: June 30, 2013, 11:14:49 am »
I tried something new today and thought it might be of some help to other furs who sleep with their plushie.
If youre the type of fur that falls asleep hugging your plushie tightly, rain or shine, hot or cold, like me,then youll have noticed their fur is getting squished down and over time is just getting that "overloved old plushie" look,A.K.A. the "had-it-since-I-was-a-kid" look even if they are only a few years old. I used to do what some furries advise doing which is brush the fur out with a soft nylon brush,it helps but doesnt do wonders.
Today I tried brushing my plushie with one of those hairbrushes that are intended to detangle very fine hair without breaking it,I gotta say,my bunny has been generously refluffed, not to the point of brand new obviously, but way better than just nylon brushing it. There wasnt any fur loss either so I think its a pretty good trick to pass on to yall. I hope it can help someone else.

The brush I used was the pink(fine hair version) Michel Mercier,it has bristles of varying lenths to avoid tangling,or something like that. Heres I pic I found of it online: Brush pic.
Dude,where my Furryness?

I've had some success using my slicker brush and flea comb on some of my really old plushies.  Like 16-11 years old, and played with a lot.  They've still got that 'been through the dryer' feel, but it's an improvement from the matted mess they were.
