Whats a watcher?

What is a watcher and how does one become a said watcher?
Also what is the Position thing in my profile page (the thing that says newbie) for?

"Newbie" simply means that you're a new member to Furtopia. Watchers are staff people who help keep an eye on the forums when Mods and Admins are busy or away. They act as an extra set of eyes and ears.
