The Zen of Animalia
A beast is not a thing of joy, alive,
its every striving second blazing free
Is no inverted self of claws and drive
with soul and world completing circuitry
But nor is beast depraved with reddened grin
(The molder's shadow here obscures the mold)
with teeth that throb to breach your fragile skin
and leave an empty body growing cold
The kingdom Animalia remains
a sovereign state its own: laws without kings
and stories never known of great campaigns
asleep within the vaults of never-things
A beast, a segment of a silver line
unbroken streaming from the start of time
