Summertime trip
« on: May 28, 2004, 11:43:04 am »
Last June a couple of friends and I loaded the bikes down and cruised the entire length of the Parkway. We spent a couple of days on the Cherokee Reservation and rode down to Deals Gap- which is known as The Tail Of The Dragon. 318 turns in 11 miles of roadway, some so sharp that I scraped pegs at 15 mph. No place to pull over for pics except at the start and end. The day we were there 2 bikes went down from going into turns to fast.

Starting in Virginia We headed out on a sunny 45 degree day with 30 mph winds. Thats me on the right.

The end in North Carolinia # days later on a nice rainy 50 degree day.

Grandfather Mountain The view from the top of Grandfathers Mountian

The road to the top of Grandfathers Mountian. The turns are so sharp that two vehicles going in opposite directions can't pass in the turn.

Mitchell Mountain This is the highest point east of the Mississippi at 6684 feet.

Deals Gap The start of the Dragon

Tiger The hotels cat that would howl at your door till you let him in.

You both look so small compared to your motorcycles! (giggles)

That is just an awesome pic! I think I will study the background to learn how things don't always stay clear as they do close-up. (smiles)

This one made me dizzy just looking at the winding road! (LOL)

This is another fantastic pic that I plan on using for studying the mountains and backgrounds. (smiles)
