If I could have anything I wanted...
To be strong, yet ruled by gentle heart,
To bear silently my burdens without complaint,
To have courage unyielding against the dark,
Standing steadfast to weather all: storm, fear, and pain.
To ask seldom for succour, yet freely to give,
To be fierce in defense of those under my wing,
To seek never to govern how others should live,
But strive ever toward greater understanding.
To be selfless in love, to protect and provide,
To champion the cause of the lost and the weak,
To ever by honour unwav'ring abide,
And never for glory be tempted to seek.
To love peace and not war, yet to fight if I must,
To lust not after power, yet be able to lead,
To place my needs last, and through perils go first,
And wake courage in hearts of the weary and meek.
This is all that I ask for myself; for this gift,
For this mast'ry of body and mind,
That my strength I may lend to those whom I love,
And leave never another behind.
