Title: The U.K.

This is just going to be a short thread. When I have enough replies, then I'll probably close it tomorrow.
I'm trying to understand a few things about the U.K. (United Kingdom) for a future project. Most questions I have should hopefully be Yes or No type questions. But if members need to explain anything further, then go ahead.

1. From what I've been reading on Wikipedia and also viewing maps, The U.K. is made up of 4 individual "countries" that collectively make up the "whole" U.K.  These are England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.  Is this correct?

2. Wikipedia and other sources state that the U.K. is a part of Europe. Maybe not on/in the "main continent" of Europe along with France, Germany, etc., but a part of Europe nevertheless, despite the fact that the U.K. is an island and seperated by water.  Is this correct?


I may have further questions, but for now, those are my main two.

2. Yes we are part of the EU. But we don't use the Euro.

And as outsider, not using the Euro is looking more and more like a smart decision everyday.

Yes, on both counts. New Zealand and Australia are on the same continent, dispite being seperated. Madagascar is part of Africa. Hawaii is made of islands. It's really quite common.
