How did YOU get into the fandom?

I've always had a few animalish characteristics.. (plus the fact that I find catgirls attractive)
I first heard of the word 'furry' while looking through the art galleries at TeamArtail... but back then I thought furry just reffered to a style of drawing... I only learned that there were people called 'furries' about a month ago, while searching for furry art on yahoo.. a week or so later I put 'furry' into google and found thid place.. so here I am!  '<img'>

I think I was hooked at a very early age when I first saw "CATS" on stage, and decided to make all my halloween costuming along those lines.

I discovered the internet and Trekkie conventions about the same time.  I found out there were people who enjoyed wearing furry costumes and used Caitians as my excuse to dress cat like (although I hardly knew who they really were).

I had always delved into furry fantasy artwork for years ever since I was 15 years old.  My deepest diving into the furry world was carving out my own identity in the Toronto's BDSM world as a showcase slave for a dominatrix I met while I was in cat-costume at a Trekkie convention.  She said these sexy furry outfits would be a hit in the BDSM world at fetish festivals and she was right.

But my furry world has been rather dry as of late.  I moved out of Toronto to go back to school, take up acting, and study classical violin.  I tried to build an interest in furry webcamming but no one would join in  ':cry:' .  So I dropped it.

Maybe something will start up again for me soon.

*puts her two cents in ^_^*

I think I've been a furry since before I can remember. When I was a kid, I would -ALWAYS- pretend that I was an animal, and usually an animal who could walk and talk. Normally I was a wolf or a puppy, but sometimes I'd be a momma snow leopard taking care of her baby (I got to take the school mascot, a stuffed snow leopard plushie, home one weekend ^.^). I'd ask my mom to put a bowl of milk on the floor for me, but she never let me. :P Although, I did get to make a 'cave' out of umbrellas pushed together with pillows beneath them.

I've been drawing animals and furries since around the time I was 7 or 9, although I've been drawing since I was 2. ^_^ I only found out about the furry community when I moved to Idaho. We upgraded our computer at one point and got a modem put in. I'm not sure how I got to it, but I found Yerf.com and realized that I wasn't the only person who drew animals as humans. My family at my pictures and say, "Uhhh, it's nice, but why do they have tails?" So it was refreshing to find others who thought like I did.

Then I found FluffMUCK, and I've been there ever since, really. I adore the people I've met on there, even though I don't talk to them often.

Well, that about sums it up... ^_^;
