I tend to get excited about these shows if I know something I want/really interested in is in it. Other than that I wait ti see what comes up on tech news sites.

TBH, the "C" in CES puts me off. Because I'm not after "consumer" grade electronics.

On topic: My parents go to a lot of ham-radio conventions for the embroidery business, so I've seen a lot of random trinkets there that I find interesting. I like shows like these, even if just to look and say 'Wow'.

Though seriously, general-grade consumer stuff isn't usually all that interesting as a power-demanding user ;)
Though for phones, well, they have no workstation-class phones (yet) XD
