Tail Furs (fox)

So, I've been shopping around for some faux fur to use for a tail.  However, I've been having trouble finding fur of the right type.  Since it's a fox tail, I felt long pile furs would be most appropriate (≥ 2inches minimum).  I found some sites that offer the colors I want (green/olive & black), but there are some things that I could really use clarification on:

The vast majority of furs I found with acceptable length and color are classified as either "shag" or "mongolian".  I'm not sure what that entails, exactly (google was not very helpful there), but I'm guessing that refers to the texture, and neither sounds particularly fox-ish to me   Am I interpreting correctly?  I could easily be way off base here; I don't have much experience with this.  I have a hard time getting a sense of what fur looks like from little thumbnails, some of which are unreasonably contradictory for being technically the same product.

For reference, the most promising selection I have come across so far is this one.  Would this look totally stupid?  Sadly, I can't really afford to be ordering a bunch of swatches on top of everything else.  If anybody has any better suggestions, please point me in the right direction

Mongolian fur is curly type of fabric fur (Like sheep for instance) and in my experience , it doesn't look good on fursuits parts . So I wouldn't recommend it .
Shaggy fur is commonly used by fursuit makers,  the type that is mainly used  is "DF" luxury shag which is more expensive type but is the worth the price .

www.FursuitSupplies.com has lots of fur to offer , the same with www.fabricempire.com (Both was used by me and many others , and they are great) .
I think the type/color of fur you're looking can be seen here and here .

As for the texture , "DF" shag is really soft and smooth so I would bet it would fit perfectly your fox tail . Shaggy means it's in clumps of hair/fur , like uncombed hair . As the quality increases, the less shagginess there is and seems more realistic.

That you for that explanation; it helps a lot .  And I'm definitely bookmarking that site.  The ≥ 2" olive has been the hardest find, so that's on the top of my list if it comes back in stock anytime soon.  In the meantime,  I will be making an expidition to the local fabric store to get a sense of what the different lengths actually look like.

So it might to helpful to write what I'm learning here as I go:
DF = Distinctive Fabrics (http://distinctivefabric.com).  I was really confused about that for some reason.  They offer up to five free swatches if you create an account, so I've ordered a few so I can compare.
The furs look much different after they're brushed with, say, a pet comb; the "mongolian" furs are apparently much better (thanks Alsek).

Okay, I got a ton of fur in the mail

I was thinking maybe thirty inches long, but I'm not sure how wide.  Hmmm... maybe 5in (ignoring margins).  I wish there was more templates for this, but I've got extra in case I mess up
