"There are old pilots and bold pilots, but there are no old bold pilots."

Following retirement from the Air Force, he appeared in public service announcements for the Civil Air Patrol. "You don't have to be a pilot to be important in the Civil Air Patrol..." CAP renamed it's Aerospace Education Achievement Award the BG Charles E. "Chuck" Yeager Award after The Right Stuff was released. To earn the award, CAP members had to study an Air Force Academy textbook on Aerospace Power and pass an exam. Aerospace Education Officers who hold the award may then apply for the Scott Crossfield Award.

He also did endorsements for AC Delco, Diet Coke, the Northrop F-20 Tigershark, and the National Rifle Association IIRC. The general also appeared at a grand opening event at the Cabelas in Dundee, MI.

The Detroit News reported that there were plans to make a movie based on Yeager's autobiography, but nothing more came of it.
