hmmm dumb stuff Ive done...

went Snowshoeing in the back country near Valdez alaska. The was a road in to the rifle range that was plowed but I drove past that in my 86 Daytona. I went on and did my hiking and got back to the car. I got halfway back to the plowed part and got stuck.
Now usually in that area anyone fireing off rockets got noticed and I fired off one each time I heard a snowmobiler and no one came. 5 hours later someone came and I got a tow out. It wasnt too cold that day, I had both doors open and the hatch and had my stereo blaring.
Next time I rode the snowmobile if I wanted to go hiking.

Riding down a steep, rocky trail to boast about my new bike's shocks. I was thrown off, of course, but I landed on my feet at the bottom. Of course, I had to dodge my bike, which was rolling after me.

Klutz + Skates = Bad times

My knee has been known to give out on me (just cranky I suppose) but I figured I'd give roller blading a shot. I had only been out a few times (most ending in bloody spills) when I figured I'd give the rather large hill at the front of the neighborhood a try... mostly at the urging of a much more experienced friend who had a rather... unfortunate optimism about my skating prowess.

After all, I had been driving up and down it and it didn't seem all that bad.

Lesson 1 - Hills seem much smaller in a car than they do on skates.

Lesson 2 - If your idea of breaking is "Hit the curb and fall on the grass", hills are not for you.

 - Mini-lesson - Neither are velocities in excess of 15 mph.

Lesson 3 - If a trick knee has given out every other time you've done something, doing it faster will NOT help.

Lesson 4 - You do not neccesarily need to be thinking happy thoughts to fly like Peter Pan. "Oh ****!" Works just fine.

Lesson 5 - The words "Oh **** dude, holy ****!" from your amazed "buddy" neither make the hurting stop, remove the gravel from your skin, nor restore your shattered ego.

After my 5-7 (it was kind of hard to tell, I was too busy with the flying thoughts) yard scenic tour over the luxurious neighborhood asphalt, subsequent log roll landing the rest of the way down the hill (another 6 yards) and the painful, humiliating scramble off the asphalt in order to avoid the oncoming SUV (Mini-lesson - Soccer moms on cell phones do NOT stop for road pizza) I decided that with shredded clothes, several deep scrapes (to the muscle) and a messed up wrist that my skating career had obviously peaked... it was time to retire.

I've done a lot. One of the most recent...
I wanted to turn a lamp off, but it was missing the button which was for turning it on and off. I got a metal... thing, stuck it into the hole where the button had been, to attempt to turn it off... and... um... yeah. Been terrified of anything that can conduct electricity since then...

Too many to mention but here are a few....
Remember that seen in "Hooper" were they hook the cable to the motorcycle cops belt, trust me it hurts! This was back when that movie first came out- a long time ago.
Laid my bicycle down many times learning to ride standing on the seat while standing upright.
Had a buddy tow me behind his moped on my skateboard at full speed down the street, and we would pass the cars everychance we could.
As teenagers my brother and I would pull my Jeep bumper to bumper with a friends truck at 55 and climb out over the hood and into the bed of his truck. The first time we did it my friend saw me pull up and thought I was just playing bumper tag. It wasn't until my brother pounded on the rear window did he realize what had gone on.
Out on the lake or ocean a buddy and I would pull our boats side by side at 35- 40 and pass fishing bait and beer back and forth between the boats. Remember, boats steer from the rear, if you swerve apart at the same time you'll hit the sterns together hard.
On really bright moonlit nights I used to run at very high speeds knowing that if I passed a cop I could turn off the headlights and use the parking brake to slow down and turn off the road without him seeing me turn.
I could keep going but I think you get the idea by now

When I was a kid, it was fun to run full speed into a hammock and grab on to make it spin. This trick does not work so well with low hanging hammocks.  '' *thump*
More recently, I too was electrocuted. I was hanging up an extention cord after grooming and washing my pup and I was all wet. Note that it is NOT SMART to wind up cords still plugged in. Well, I got shocked and it knocked me off my feet and my lungs closed up. After my Dad got done laughing at me (which he apologized for), he and my Mom got me inside and calmed down so I could breathe. Mom was freaking out coz my lips were blue. '<img'> I got spoiled that day.

Hmm, yes, electricity...

Well, I was making an electric light for a jack-o-lantern and there was this piece of metal where it screws into a lamp or something. I plugged it in, picked it up from that and got shocked. I had absolutely no clue what happened, so after I dropped it, I picked it up again. It doesn't hurt, really. Static is worse. Here in Grand Cayman my stove is horrible, so when making ramen with a metal pot and fork I always get electrocuted.

Anybody have any dinner mistakes or blunders? Well, I have. Many, many years ago, my mother had put some raw chicken in a pan and covered it with plastic wrap and then stuck it in the fridge. She told me that after I had gotten home from school, I was to take the pan out of the fridge, remove the plastic wrap, and put the pan in the oven. Well, I'll bet you can just imagine what happened next.  '<img'>  Yep, I forgot to take the plastic wrap off the pan of chicken and had stuck it in the oven to cook.  ''  Boy, was I stupid! When my mother got home and checked on the condition of the chicken, she was hysterical! I can definately say this incident gave new meaning to the term "extra crispy".  ''   '<img'>

When I was younger we used to run straight across the roofs of a block of garages next to our house, we would run straight of the end, hit the ground and keep running. I remember one run I did that I didn't time properly so instead of landing on the ground and countinuing running I landed int he back of a truck..and kept on running, my leg hut the edge of the truck and I flipped over the side. I would have landed under the back wheel had I not had the sence to kick off the side of the truck to put some distance between us. Surprisingly I didn't even have a scratch, though we made sure to check for traffic before every run after that.

Oh, wow....stupid stuff I've done..hmmmm....so many stories...where to start?

one time (I used to be a really, really big pyro) I was blowing up any kind of can that would explode and one just wouldn't blow...so I stood over it and dropped the brick...I was hospitalized.....
Another time, I was drivind down a really curvy dirt road in my VW van, in the middle of the icy-butt michigan winter....I hit somewhere around 80...then lost control of the van and spun out and plowed off the side of the road, still continuing to slide....then ended up facing straight down, an inch from a tree.....I had to hitch-hike back about 50 miles and then drive back to pull it out with an extremely large truck........
another time......I binge drank for maybe 4 days straight (I hit a really depressing period in my life)...then got hold of a car....then broke every traffic law......I can't remember doing any of this, but I was reminded of it by almost everyone I know.....that's why I mostly quit drinking.........
one time I thought it would be fun to drag off of the back of a riding lawnmower, grabbing hold of the trailer hitch....with nobody driving it......I thought I had a pretty good straight shot on the grass along the side of the road, but then the road curved slighty........>>SMASH<<......right into a police car........fortunatly, I was only like 10 yrs old, so the cop let me go....truely one of the nicest officers on the planet
there's so many more stories to tell, but I'm going to bed......
