Working and finalizing plans for a home made free standing artist easel. Cost will be $80+ to build. A total of 64 pieces that will take up the better part of two 4x8 sheets of 3/4 inch plywood. Will be able to hold anything from a 3x3 to 46x70 canvas. Has a 40 x 16 work top. With a total work top of 40 x 25 3/8. With part of the work top behind the adjustable upright easel. The adjustable easel part is 12 1/2 wide 49 3/8 tall. Two 40 x 16 shelves. Three spaces for drawers that I'll leave open for now. Each drawer can be approximately 3 + 11+ x 15 inches deep. With a total height of 82 inches. Fully adjustable dual clamping top and bottom clamps. Bottom clamp will have a build in level. This is a non tilting easel meant to be used for oils and acrylics. Don't plan on ever going back to watercolors so tilting isn't needed.
It's big, clunky and will be over built. There is nothing on the market like it. More like a piece of furniture with an easel sticking out of the top.
Update. After spending hours getting all the right measurements and fitting everything on two 4x8 sheets of plywood. All this work done in a drawing program I reformatted so I could work in 1.1 size. I walked into by bedroom and looked at a dresser I don't use. The drawers are full of stuff that could easily be put in boxes and stored in the basement. It's a nice 50 x 18 x 32 inches tall. So now all I need is one 4x8 3/4 plywood sheet. With only 32 things to cut out. The dresser has 6 drawers. More than I'll ever need for paints and things. I was wanting to move my paint stuff out of where it's at now. This is perfect! There is no fumes in artist grade acrylic paints. So sleeping in the same room with the paints wont be a problem. AWESOME!
