Okay, my friend goes to California sometimes to visit his girlfriend, I might be able to beg a ride off of him.

My problem is money. I need to know what I'm gonna have to pay for when i'm there. Is there a fee to get in? How about rooms? etc etc.....

I doubt I'll be able to go, but it just might happen, everything has to go right.....

Costs could include...
Admission - but you might dodge it if you just hang around the lobby and socialize. Â You will need a badge to get into dealers room and events. Â Check their website for prices. Â You can also check into being a "gopher". Â You'll have to work the con... but will have time off to see things. Â In fact being a gopher could help in food and sleep.

Food - allow at least $15 per day. Â You can supplement this by bringing granola bars and such from home. Â There is always water available. Â And if you do buy a membership, the "con suite" usually has snacks and drinks.

Sleeping - again check the website for hotel and rates. Â Though you might find crash space (that is floor space in someone's room)... especially if you are as "cute" as your avatar. Â I know some folks sleep in the film room at night. Â As I said, your "problem" is not unique.

In all, it would not be impossible to do the entire event for under $50... but it would be better thinking in the $100 range. Â Of course if you contact the con and go the gopher route, you might get by with even less. Â

In the end, it all depends on what YOU need. Â In some of my early, poorer days, I did sleep in film rooms and only had soft drinks to keep me nurished. Â All my money went for travel, admission and purchases.

I can honestly sleep just about anywhere, as long as it's not real cold. I can also get by without much food (I'm not a very hungry person)

I'm gonna have to talk to some people about getting there, but I don't think I'll get a ride, I may have to take the train like you suggested.

BTW, is this convention pirate-themed? That's the main thing that made me excited.I just love pirates (Iv'e been working on a pirate outfit) and I may even show up in it if thats the case Â

I sent in my Pre-Registration today and my plane ticket is going to be bought tomorrow.

I will even be able to have enough money for the dealer tables and food whenn I arrive.

As for my fursuit, I am going to Rexwolf's place again for tonight and continue to work on it.

Is anyone driving down there from the greater Seattle area? If so, I wonder if i might get a ride there (and hopefully back) However, i do not have a driver's license so I can drive legally. I could come up with money for gas though. My friend wants to go also, so if anyone has room, we can pay for gas.

That sounds SUPER! Â It will make the con fun last longer.

I've always wanted to take a train trip someplace. Actually, in my early con days, I worked with several prominent comic dealers on an idea to hold a con ON a train... and have the train travel the country so that it could be "held" at various cities.

OH! Â One caveat... I sent my folks from Seattle to Los Angeles last year. Â They found that the train had frequent delays due to freight trains. Â They were due at 9pm... but did not get into LA until after midnight.

But the con is ONLY THREE WEEKS AWAY!

Domafox here with one.

My furiend Rexwolf is going to attend Califur and came up with the idea to visit a Wolf Preservation in the morning on Saturday and spend time with real wolves. Â The trip is about 2 hours away from the convention. Then we can return back to Califur after Lunch.

So Heat and myself are planning to go through with the idea and we figured we can do comunity drives if anyone else would like to join.

Fellow furs can also make $10 donations towards the preservation and take pictures of the wolves upon their visit, and if lucky you may get to be next to one.

Yes, its true...all those rumors you heard, all the stories, everything.

I am going to Califur!

Yup...I'm going, as I hoped, and will be able to fulfill my promise to present on wolves, and it looks like I'll be able to guide a group to go see and PET the wolves at Wolf Mountain Sanctuary.

Oh yeah, and as Doma mentioned, I have a hotel room, with slots available.

I'll also be able to show off my first commissioned fursuit. Yay. I'll be bringing two fursuits I've made, so people can see that I actually can turn out a fursuit. Yay.

Anyway, please feel free to contact me if you would like to room with me, want to go see the wolves, or have any questions for this old wolf.

I don't check this board too often (it's been what, 3 months) so email or IM works best. Make sure you preface the conversation with a subject; otherwise I'll get all paranoid and think you're spamming me or trying to nail me for that crime I didn't really committ oh so many years ago...hehe

Anyway, hope to see you all there. Come find me Friday. I'm always up for meeting new friends, especially if they like wolves anywhere near as much as I do.

so if we could do it not too late. Â How does 4pm sound?

Course it would also depend if the con has something going on around that time. Â They still have no official schedule.

4 sounds perfect! I'm availible anytime, really, and would be happy to do the photoshoot whenever it works best.

When do we all wanna meet at the bar in the loby for our second anual west coast furtopia meet. Afterall last year was really sucessful and this year we will have a good pile of furz there. What time would be good for everyone.

I would sugest doing this on the friday evening or the saturday morning. That's just a sugestion.

Put down some sugestions of your own we will get organized.

Think Saturday morning sounds good.
That way folks arriving late Friday can still gather.

I would say around 10am
We certainly should not be against any major programming. Â Worst might be dealers room is open. Â But I can open my table a bit late to chat with topians!
