Favorite album?
« on: October 04, 2015, 03:37:51 am »
Do people still buy albums anymore?

I've only bought one full album, American Idiot, so that would probably be my favorite; however, I really do like Dookie. I've bought most of the songs on that album. (I also like Infinity on High and From Under the Cork Tree.)

So, what are everyone's favorite albums out there?

If your talking physical copies yes and no.(mind you these are all digital copies) I have one Eminem album,2 Passion Pit albums, MGMT, Rage Against The Machine, DragonForce, and a couple albums from System Of a Down. I have more digital copies of other albums, if I list them all it would be a lot. Just on my tablet alone I have close to 590MB of music.

American Idiot is also one of my favorite albums, but I'm fond of Elephant (The White Stripes) and The Black Parade (My Chemical Romance).

I love to collect old vinyl albums, and my favorite one that I have by far has to be Vices from 1984 by the Canadian heavy metal band Kick Axe, a very underrated and awesome band, and overall a must-have album if you're into heavy metal, as all of the songs on it are all really amazing, my choice favorites from it being Maneater and On The Road To Rock.
Dare to be all that you can be.

I have hundreds of albums. I think my favourite is probably either My Dying Bride's As the Flower Withers, or Khanate's self-titled. They're both pretty nasty and vicious.

I've recently taken a liking to AM by Arctic Monkeys. Been meaning to listen to their debut album soon.

I definitely cannot have only one favorite album. The ones I like the best (in no particular order) are "Toxicity" by System of a Down, "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea" by Neutral Milk Hotel, "I the Mighty EP" by I the Mighty, "Pieces of You" by Jewel, "Oceanborn", "Once", and "Dark Passion Play" by Nightwish,"Foley Room" by Amon Tobin, anything by The Dresden Dolls and Emilie Autumn, and "Little Earthquakes", "Under the Pink", and "Boys for Pele" by Tori Amos.
"Fairy tales are more than true: Not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten."
                                                 -Neil Gaiman
"Even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise."
                                              -Les Miserables

*Looks around nervously*

UH, NO...

*camera focuses in on the massive pile of CDs behind me.*

Heh...

Seriously, i won't buy music any other way.  It's all or nothing for me.  As for favorites, Pearl Jam's Ten and Audioslave's self-titled release are pretty much as good as it gets, as far as i'm concerned at least.

I no longer buy CDs and now get my music from iTunes. Sometimes I'll buy an entire album from iTunes, but usually I'll pick a few favorite songs (kind of like buying old 45s instead of the record). I don't have an all-time best-ever album, but here are a few of my favorites:

"Sleeping on the Edge of the World" by David Helpling (new age)
"Goodbye, Yellow Brick Road" by Elton John (one of the best rock albums ever released)
"Meteora" by Linkin Park
"Skyrim" soundtrack by Jeremy Soule
"All stories are about wolves..." -- Margaret Atwood, "Blind Assassin"
