Not 100% where to put this; It's a observation, and a suggestion.
A lot of profiles on Furtopia seem to be completely abandonned and lifeless. I'm wondering, overall, how many; It seems many people come to the site, post once or twice, and dissappear, leaving only thier profiles behind. How many "Derilects" exist on FT? How many cleanups have occured?
I'm suggesting there should be a cleanup operation. And a big one.

Please do ;) I hate looking through old posts and seeing people who were on for a while, then just disappeared forever.
Edit: Just want to add, I wouldn't want any to be deleted though, It's just a bit depressing to see people leave and never come back ;)

yeah, but if they did that i wouldn't be here
i left for over a year and came back i had to leave because of computer issues

As accounts can't (to my knowledge) be deleted, only locked on request, what would you suggest as a clean-up? Some of these people may want to return at some point: I've seen people leave for years and then return to an old account.

yeah, plus I leave in 8 days and it might be a while before I can come back

Let me amend my statement; After a determined cut off point, if there was no message about the dissappearence sent to a member of the furtopia staff, the account would be on probation for deletion, and then a further time (Much shorter) will pass before the account would be deleted. During that time, Emails could be sent to the associated Email Inboxes.
Existing accounts at that have not been signed into for five to seven years would be probated until the tenth year, which would be the cut off point.
And let me note, this is MUCH less drastic than my original thought.

As accounts are deleted they leave "holes" in the much older threads on the site. We do not delete the account so we have a complete record of who posted what on all the threads we have. Any abandoned accounts are left as is but anyone that wishes to leave can have their account closed and any information on it removed (email and the like) upon request.
We do get members that haven't been on for years coming back sometimes as well.

I have a word for you, Arashi: No. Member accounts cannot be deleted at all except with the express permission of WhiteShepherd, and/or in very rare cases where the account/member may have a severe impact on the safety and functionality of this site and/or the memberbase.
Accounts can only be CLOSED to prevent further usage. Either:
* The member requested their account profile be closed.
* Account profile was closed due to severe rules violations.
* Account profile closed due to possible troll/spammer or other potential harm to Furtopia.
* Or other various reasons.
