I love game music and scores some are so beautiful and emotional, some are wonderful at conveying feelings, what are your faviroutes? Also i found this just now, the girls singing voice at 45 seconds is perfectly in tune and is very nice http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/510975 (http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/510975) i hope you think so too :)
My fave scores are, skyrim, farcry 3, all the halo'sand a few others i will add when i remember them.
Bit random and not very hip, but i find many of this type of music very soothing and calming. I do love all music though :)
-
Oddworld stanger's wrath. scratch that, ALL the oddworld games.!
All the halos, mech assault, both borderlands... both COD black ops games actually had really goo music too...
-
My personal favourite game soundtrack is the one from Chrono Cross - the actual game is decent despite some flaws, but it had some amazing music in it.
A lot of the Final Fantasy games have pretty good music, too; I particularly liked some of the stuff from FFX. Also, might be kind of an unusual answer, but for some reason, the game "Wet" comes to mind... the actual game was pretty mediocre, but I liked a lot of the music they used in it. There's probably a few I'm forgetting, if there is, I'll throw them in to this thread.
-
I like red alerts' hell march ( especially hell march 2) and the original C&C ( tiberian dawn I think) has a great sound track
I'm not sure but I think homeworld 2 has a good one also
One of my fave games just cause 2 has some good music ( *crunched out is best I think) *also known as mile high club

Someone remixed TF2's Rocket Jump Waltz: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XxAB9BAxpJw
-
Oh wow. There's a question. I'll just link a bunch of my favorites.
Ecco 2: The Tides of Time - Tube of Medusa
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kk72RMv9d0s
It's fun, fast, and I think the simplicity of it is why it works so well. It sounds very..Genesis, but that's one of the reasons I like it :)
Radiant Historia - Blue Radiance
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WNORnKsigdQ
Radiant Historia isn't a game very many people played because not only was it an Atlus game, it came out for the DS in 2011..after the 3DS had already come out. Composed by Yoko Shimomura, you can definitely hear some hints of Kingdom Hearts in there ;)
The Binding of Isaac - My Innermost Apocalypse
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WuLLLwGQNWI
The Binding of Isaac is an incredibly difficult game. You oftentimes win by sheer virtue of having a crazy amount of damage output and nothing else, meaning the fight with the final boss won't be very long. If you happen to make it to him and still have to dodge a bunch to win, you'll be able to hear more than about a minute or it. Get that far in and you're in for a treat!
The World Ends with You - Calling
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0569Wt-cZ0
The World Ends with You has a unique soundtrack in that a majority of it has vocals. This is overworld music. Really pulls you into the world if..Shibuya, Japan :P
Chrono Trigger - 600 AD
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RqZaFDA7PXY
It's Chrono Trigger.
Chrono Cross - Time's Scar
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J46RY4PU8a8
It's Chrono Cross.
Journey - The Entire OST
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3hFN8UrBPw
Not only was Journey's soundtrack simply beautiful, but the only way of communication between you and your partner was various musical note-sounding blips that were always in sync with the music no matter when you pressed the "shout" button.
Final Fantasy VI - Aria di Mezzo Carattere
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oi0yL_KvW7g
Need I say more?
Final Fantasy X - To Zanarkand
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dmzZrj-cLSc
Really ;)?
-
The ones that really stand out for me are the Legend of Zelda game scores. I have all of Zelda Reorchestrated's work, and all the Koji Kondo I can get my hands on.
-
Defiantly the music from Bastion for me.
-
Video game music is some of the best music, I have over 2 gigs worth of 8 bit music. I love it because I generaly dislike vocals.
F-Zero, Big Blue
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSb4XQwObIE
Bubble Bobble
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VTmJJ0lUyQc
Green Greens - Kirby's Dream Land
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OCH6nQYflwY
Illusion of Gaia - Returned Memory
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_CqZv5u8hgE
Secret of Mana - opening
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQChkLQV8_c&list=PL9B1F4546776E26A4
Secret of Mana - Found Memories
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Pt2NBP2TfQ&list=PL9B1F4546776E26A4
Secret of Mana - Spirit of the Night
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bz8bl_BikuA&list=PL9B1F4546776E26A4
Secret of Mana - I will never forget you
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aSBPqfviWw4&list=PL9B1F4546776E26A4
Big Blue is just awsome, Bubble Bobble and Kirby music is happy and fun. The others are just beautiful and inspire deeper thoughts.
-
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. It's majestic and full of emotion.
-
No the best video game is the Mass Effect soundtrack!!! Almost all the songs (especially the slower ones) are great!
-
The bioshock games have some great swing soundtracks...
-
That they did...
Really though, the halo games have some of the best music i've heard in a game.
-
If you think Mass Effect and Halo has good music, you need to paly more video games.
-
Skyrim...just skyrim..
-
How do you paly video games? For that matter, how do you paly anything!? :D
So, if you're so educated in this matter, tell me, what have i been missing, hmm?
I actually play Skyrim with the music off... gives it a rather creepy tone when you're in caves and whatnot...
-
Yeah caves do get creepier. *Falmer sounds* "Oh god why am I here why am I here.....just remember there is great treasure further down..." *starts crying*
-
I played through um... what's it called... the place where you have to get the horn of Jergen Windcaller, at night, on minimum brightness, TV adjusted to low contrast, brightness, and low color (Looks dreary and... just kinda... bad...) on max difficulty with ceiling fan going, doors open (It was winter so it was friggin cold, plus my room is basically a one room cabin [with no insulation] in the back yard, making it even colder and windier.) And i went in with nothing but a set of nonupgraded fur armor, a pickaxe and a few torches, no magic, and only whirlwind sprint for shouts. Volume up high too, on a big TV.
I was no longer playing Skyrim, i was IN Skyrim.
Yeeeeah... i like to make video games as an immersive experience as possible... and some people say i take it too far. (Every person i've ever told, actually...)
In all reality, i try to play in as close to those conditions as i can, but the opportunities are rather few and far between... saddly
-
Yeah caves do get creepier. *Falmer sounds* "Oh god why am I here why am I here.....just remember there is great treasure further down..." *starts crying*
You big girls :D, Try having your own metro 2033 experience, the tracks were off for maintenance so, We put on our rucksacks and walked through the pitch black tram tunnels with just a head torch and water, took hours, Master the fear ;)
-
SSX3's soundtrack. Most of the songs in that are on my MP3 player, I have a dedicated playlist X3 It's just... Amazing. Makes you feel like amazing! ^.^
Favorite track in the game? "Rockstar" N.E.R.D. (Remix)
-

Giant mutated mole rats are not as scary as the falmer...and all their little friends.
-
Metro 2033 not fallout, We're talking nosalises and *Shudders* Dark ones here.
-
Dark ones are harmless, well the child is. That game honestly did scare me.. or come close, but I thoroughly enjoyed it
-

The book is one of the most well wrote books i have read, Read it on your own in the ak, Dmitry Glukhovsky is really able to get your heart pumping, he builds up the tension very well. The game was good, but it didn't do the book justice.
-
Yeah the books are good, but I just didn't make me stay on edge. Nothing has for a while.
-
all the halo and the sound track for planetary annihilation sounds good.
-
I absolutely love the Heavy Rain sound track.
-
Shadow the Hedgehog. All of the credit tracks, and the game start track. All are pretty good.
-
If you think Mass Effect and Halo has good music, you need to paly more video games.
No, they don't have good music, they have AWESOME music! Halo at least, haven't gotten too far into Mass Effect yet.
But really, that is quite a bold statement you made there; therefore, i wish to know exactly WHAT i have been missing. And just so you know, i have played plenty of video games, and many of them have good music as well, such as Mechassault, Borderlands, and ALL of the Oddworld games.
Speaking of Oddworld, nobody else has said anything about them, so i wish to know, has ANYBODY played them!? Or at the least, heard of them!? Really, i'd be truly sad if i'm the only one; their waaaay too awesome to miss out on! Then again, they aren't exactly for everyone, as they are a bit... odd.
-
I played them but they are not my cup o' tea. I have particular tastes when it comes to games.
-
love the halo's music
-
Let's see...
Sector Sweep, Vortal Combat, and Guard Down from Half Life and it's Episodes.
Juchu from Botanicula.
Still Alive and 4000 Degrees Kelvin from Portal.
Federation, MilkyWay (Battle), and Rockmen (Battle) from FTL: Faster Than Light.
Love all the Horde themes from Left 4 Dead 2, though my favorite would probably have to be the Swamp Fever one.
Songbird from Bioshock Infinite.
-
Oh man, I'll try to keep this list short, so here we go.
Killing Floor: Abandon All http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1TzVMXdU64

Tales of Symphonia: Fatalize http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOxabLadOVQ

Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow: Champion Battle http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wB6KdsIE1Lg
Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask: Majora's Wrath and Giants theme http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANfTiE-43MI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0qzurHFfsk

Legend of Zelda: Dragon Roost Island http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXGGvsHq6iA
There's too much music for me to put down. x_x
-
hard to say my fav. so many :o the closest i can pick is minecraft, halo, fallout, the elder scrolls,
-
I didn't enjoy Skyrim's music very much; though it is pretty good, it don't take long for those tracks to get old. Also, while it was entertaining the first few times epic dragon-slaying music started playing as a 6 inch mudcrab clambers over a hill towards you, it just felt kinda stupid, especially considering how often it happened...
Not an original soundtrack, but the Burnout games i've played always have some really good tunes.
Hmm... lets mix it up a little bit; what are some of the WORST video game soundtracks you've ever heard?
-
I also have most of the Pokemon soundtracks.
-
My favourite is the soundtrack from Devil May Cry 5.
Can't really argue with a soundtrack by Noisia, and the contrasts between the atmospheric and heavy elements are pretty awesome
-
almost forgot 'ain't no rest for the wicked' but that isn't game made music real song that was placed in a game
-
Anything from Legend of Zelda! :D
-
farcry 3 theme http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KAmN270P_Fg
the game has quite a sad ending and the music matches perfectly still nice music tho
-
the great harbor ship of bentus (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rbic9M0wzg)
hell march 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9WqwFhX6Cqg)
SR3 theme (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m22k4h8jOf0)
crunched out (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sNWiEMYYNDI)
pimped ice cream truck jingle ( just cause 2) (http://www.listenonrepeat.com/watch/?v=Vu1ua3jtIpg)
thats all for now until i remember ( even more)
also the color of the text relates to the game in some way and they are all links
-
For me, I'd say that my favourite video game music would be from Call Of Duty : Modern Warfare 2, the LoZ series (even though I've never really played one ever), and the Battlefield theme song. I don't really have much games that have memorable OSTs like these.
-
Somehow, I managed to forget the No More Room in Hell menu theme. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bgvE9D7jFZw
Lol as soon as I start up the game and hear this song, I know it means business.
-
I am sure that I have listened to the whole soundtrack for, "To The Moon" waaaaay too many times, it's just so lovely ^-^
There are literally tons of soundtracks I love, I used to be obsessed with, I think it is "Explore 7" A background piece for Fallout 3, just the sadness yet vastness was really well portrayed in that piece, and I loved the large orchestral drum that would quietly bump every now and again, reminded me of nuclear explosions themselves.
I don't know what it is, but movie soundtracks as well as game soundtracks, maybe more so, they just all have that one 10 second slot in them that makes you feel such a strong surge of emotion, whatever that emotion may be.
Also, random, but whenever I listen to a piece of music, I can remember exactly what I was doing and thinking, and feel the same emotions I felt at the time when I listened to it the most, or when I really got into it.
Sorry, I get all artistic and passionate when I start talking about these things, then I ramble :-[

Isn't that the truth.
-
would the skyrim soundtrack count? :3
-
Lol the crazy bus title screen song :D but in all seriousness, I like the soundtrack from okami ALOT.
-
Well, of course final fantasy and legend of zelda music. Um, lemme see. I like Bayonneta's music, especially the fly me to the moon climax remix, and lets dance boys. Well, okami has a good one, as does castlvania. Um, then i gotta say i adore the music in "oddball" games, like Asura's wrath
-
My all time favorite Game music would be TES2 Daggerfall's s Theme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYGA_bk6P0I, used to listen to this baby on loop while writing boring essays on subjects no one cares about to make it seem like an epic endeavor. Also Planescape: Torment's entire soundtrack: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dXF9I6OykBc
Beyond that there is the music form Gorasul: Legacy of the Dragon Done by German medieval band Corvus Corax, including it's awesome intro music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHcrh4FL2dQ
Also there is this pleasant Gem from Age of Wonders that I haven't been able to get out of my head for over a decade: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SbwgdajNpU0
Edit:
How can I forget Komnenós from Crusader Kings II: Legacy of Rome Expansion, it's just Epic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gh8U-gjWr4I
-

-
(Highlighted words are not links; i'm too lazy to find all of these things. :-[ )
The soundtrack of the Halo series, particularly the first one, Halo: Combat Evolved. The later games are pretty good too, but the first one will always be my favorite.
Although it's certainly not main reason i like the games, the Borderlands series does have a handful of good tracks. Main ones that come to mind are Skag Gully and Caustic Caverns
I don't know if this really counts, but Burnout 3: Takedown has a wonderful soundtrack. I was introduced to some of my favorite bands though said game.
Any Oddworld game. Seriously, the music alone is worth giving them a look, not even mentioning the games themselves. (Disclaimer: I have only played Munch's Odyssey and Stranger's Wrath, so i can't speak for any of the others.)
And last but certainly not least, the soundtrack from a really old game that nobody has ever heard of. Airforce Delta Storm. The game isn't fantastic, though it is very nostalgic for me (first console game i ever played). But the music is awesome. Might be the reason i still play it every now and then.
-
The Clash on the Big Bridge from Final Fantasy V is pretty great.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6CMTXyExkeI
-
I can't just listen to game music iflt fells as though it's missing something(the game!) but I do have a couple of songs that stand out from what I play. Such as Dust:Elysian Tail soundtrack, Skyrim soundtrack and a select few from Kingdom Hearts series.
-
The soundtrack to the game Catherine is pretty cool :p but it is the only game I play sooooo yah :p
-
I played Halo:CE again, and i'm just gonna tell it plain: My favorite video game soundtrack ever.
On a somewhat related note, i'm wondering how it would effect the mood(s) if you swapped the soundtrack from Halo with the soundtrack from LotR. (I'd imagine Halo would be just as epic, but LotR... it'd be different, that's for certain.)
-
Fallout 3's and New Vegas' Radio selection, Galaxy News Radio, and well how much it reminds me of the 50s. Well New Vegas was more western style with 50s.( Fallout 3 was more wasteland feel). LOVE the music from both!
-
Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind...just the entire soundtrack: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xULTMMgwLuo
-
There are so many. To start with, I really like a lot of the music from the genesis era sonic games and I like lots of the music from the Zelda series. Including the versions used in Hyrule Warriors. Remnant of Twilight... so awesome
Here are a few that might be less well known:
Music from Lord of the Realms 2. Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NsJJyQy96L4
This song from the Gobliiins series: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=by8WUq7Mf2s
Title from Solstice (NES). Seriously, it's fairly long and epic and yet I bet most people just skip past it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypNPxwnppU0
-
I had NO idea so many of my furry buddies loved Halo :D
Anyway...
Halo: Combat Evolved (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8vaCrVIR-Q) - Menu Suite/Truth and Reconciliation (see the remastered Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary Edition (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uwo_y1jJgIw)!)
Halo 2 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n08CSYRBEsY) - Mjolnir Mix/Ghosts of Reach (see the remastered Halo 2: Anniversary Edition (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3RX2i95QfmY)!)
Halo 3 (http://) - This Is The Hour/Roll Call/Finish the Fight
Halo 3: ODST (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a33iI6xfld0) - Prepare to Drop/Skyline
Halo: Reach (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53_CUSmf8fQ) - Long night of Solace/Ghosts and Glass
Halo 4 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7_FPx_H7sc) - 117/To Galaxy
-
I think I might have answered here before and forgot, buuut...
1. Ragnarok Online soundtrack
2. Lunar 1 and 2 soundtracks
3. Xenogears and Xenosaga 1 soundtracks
These soundtracks make me cry with nostalgia and joy. :'(
-
Super Mario Galaxy. (1 or 2) Hands down.
I haven't played most of the games mentioned (I hate first-person perspective and shooters, so...), and most people would say Mario is for kids, but...
listen to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z29bt-wjS88
I actually like a TON of video game soundtracks and they make up a majority of my 1,600-song playlist, but those ones have yet to be beaten.
-
The soundtrack from the original Binding of Isaac.
I like the Rebirth music well enough, but I just don't think it's as good as the original.
-
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of the Sky has one of the best Soundtracks. The only game that's ever made me cry. :) GlitchxCity' s Remix of the Final boss theme is awesome:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=64Yf575I4Pw
-
I like the Skyrim music, but I prefer the original Halo's music. Halo 2 has an awesome guitar part. Halo 3's piano music on "The Covenant" mission at the beginning is amazing. I also like Borderlands 2 and Pre-Sequel music. Black Ops II zombies menu music is fun to listen to. I really love Minecraft's new menu music (I believe that was added in the 1.7.10 update) and its survival mode music.
My most favorite music of all is Mass Effect 3's soundtrack.
-
Ben listening to Jade Empires OST, and now remember how when it first cam out I used to just listen to the title track and re-watch the intro sequence. It has a wonderful sound track. Bioware in it's prime :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBqON-jgEA4
-
Shadow of the colossus has some pretty neat music to it
But I'd say Battleblock Theater and Castle Crashers take the cake for me
-
My favorite game music is easily the Last of Us. The soundtrack so perfectly matches the tones and themes presented in that roller coaster ride of a story. Particularly, my favorite track in the soundtrack is Home (http://youtu.be/nV8sY2Xv3Os), just because of the emotions I have associated with it when playing the game.
-
Soundtrack of Minecraft v. 1.6.4 is just plain relaxing.
Mass Effect 2, 3 made me sad sometimes.
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has great music.
Halo CE, 2, 3, 3 ODST have outstanding songs in them.
I haven't heard much from Space Engineers (new game on Steam.) but I like what I've heard.
-
I like red alerts' hell march ( especially hell march 2) and the original C&C ( tiberian dawn I think) has a great sound track
I love the command and conquer games the strategy I quite likethe generals soundtrack and the one for om tiberium wars red alert I remember it was the first game a played when I was a kid great sound track
-
Metro Last Light's ending music and of course the Accordion players throughout the game.
-
Background music in games is generally awesome, but for me the bg music in 'Life is Strange' really stood out. (The game itself is awesome too and I highly recommend it)
-
But I'd say Battleblock Theater and Castle Crashers take the cake for me
Now that's an opinion i can agree with!! Speaking of, FamilyJules7x (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GPOdPXNe1gM) did some awesome metal covers of the Castle Crashers soundtrack. Linked so you can check it out, you won't regret it. ;)
-
I love Mass Effect's amazing game music... but if you wanna get, "old" with me, I've always liked the Sly Cooper OST myself. >.>
Also Assassin's Creed and Dragon Age have very nice ones too!
-
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is my favorite, especially the tracks "Frostfall," "Streets of Whiterun," and "Skyrim Atmospheres." I also like a lot of the tracks from Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
I have a playlist of video game music which includes the above as well as tunes from Halo 3, Guild Wars, Silent Hill, Call of Duty Black Ops Zombies, League of Legends, and others. Other than Skyrim and Halo 3, I haven't played the video games themselves, I just like the music.
-
That game's music is very great also. I just love action music. Heck it's not surprising that I love Two Steps From Hell.
-
Chrono Cross: Dreams of the shore near another world
Far Cry 3: Further
Legend of Zelda (LTTP): Credits
...and many others, of course.
-
Absolutely, positively Undertale
While it may seem plain at first, the soundtrack is actually quite good at capturing the mood and tone of what's happening at each point in the game. It also contains some nice self-referencing easter eggs, where some bosses have similar themes to show a relation between them.
-
I came back here because I have a new favorite soundtrack! It's Undertale! "Hopes and Dreams," "Megalovania," "sans.," and "Bonetrousle" are my favorites.
-
ROCKBAND!!! 8) 8) 8)
But i suppose that's a no-brainer...
-
I regularly listen to the Skyrim Soundtrack if I'm out wandering about in nature, though I've taken to listening to the Fallout 4 soundtrack as well. I also have a couple playlists of the radio music from the Fallout games that I listen to regularly.
Jeremy Soule and Inon Zur are amazing XD
-
I used to listen to soundtracks from Portal (both), Machinarium, Crypt of the Necrodancer, Child of Eden, Skyrim and Pyroblazer. Also some single tracks from other games I can't remember.
-
Sound track from Bloodborne especially since every boss battle sounds like your last :D Also the soundtrack for Dark Souls 1 & 2 probably because it sounds "knighty"....Idk, am I alone on that one?
-
Final Fantasy 9 springs to mind
It's not only the individual pieces that are good, but it amazes me how cohesive the entire thing is, they way melodies and ideas intertwine and are revisited and indicitive of the plot, to the point that you can interpret certain plot points from the sound track alone! For example, there are two jesters introduced early on, who turn out to be two major antagonists through a lot of the game. Their theme tune is upbeat and jestery, I guess, but underneath it, as an inconspicuous part of the music, an ominous theme that usually precedes boss fights is being played on the organ! Little things like that, when you've played a game for ~years~ and you only then realize them just amaze me and really make me appreciate how much attention to detail has gone into this. ~This~ is why Nobuo Uematsu is a genius. :p
