Ironically, perhaps then your friends would be the best people for me to hang out with, because I really do want to get over this phobia. XD  And the only way to get over it is if I actually touch people. :o

Though kissing and pounce hugging is a bit extreme for me. xD I have enough trouble with giving small, regular hugs.

lol... they're the best dudes and dudettes in the world... if only there were more of them

Yes. I have pouncehugged my friends. Many many many times x3
My 'victim' is usually only one of my friends, many because she thinks I'm weird and shouts at me: "YOU'RE A HUMAN BEING D<" constantly. Pouncehugging is my payback 8D

*sproing* *hug* *aahhhh!* XD

I pouncehug my mate on occasion. I get wound up and have my paws moving like a cat ready to pounce, then leap. I only pounce with enough force for him to catch me. would hate to crack his skull on the floor.  :o

Ive never pounce hugged, but i wouldn't mind if someone did pounce hug me. im fairly sturdy and tall so it wouldn't matter much. when i was in wrestling (8thgrade) we had to run around and jump with a person of near or more weight to our own on our backs, and with a guy who was 10 pounds heavier, 5 minutes of running and jumping for 5 minutes did very little to exhaust me really he died before the running was over.. so it wouldn't bother me at all. i could pounce hug someone since i tend to have grace and tact. if they started falling hard, i could roll them or slow the fall probably. i dont really know.

I don't think pouncehugging would work real well for me.

If someone tried to pouncehug me, I would probably either dodge them, get out of the way, or simply get them off me.  I'm not real strong, so I think I would probably fall over if I was pouncehugged.

I don't think I would want to pouncehug someone else either, something bad would probably happen.

I think I'll stick to regular hugs.

Day someone pouncehugs me is the day I get my first mugshot taken.

Agreed. I don't have a bad back, but my legs/ankles are the weakest things you'll ever see; Pouncehug me and I'll drop like a sack of bricks.

I just remembered an incident at AC 07 that was ammusing. A black fox fursuiter I kinda knew via another friend tried to pouncehug me from behind at the con. Just on instinct I rolled him over my shoulder and down to the ground... Yeah, I'm serious about getting physical. LOL :D

I am now imagining a YouTube video about "pouncehugging safety," complete with fursuiters giving examples. Throw in an aikido expert for good measure. ^.^

Just out of curiosity, Kobuk---

Does it seem that wearing the anti-pounce protection increases your likelihood of being pounced?
And as a follow-up:  Was that the idea in the first place?  :D

to kwan and kobuk, its an interesting though, though you would have to be wearing it at all times or have to tell them to wait a sec before you they jump whil you apply the gear.

some dude invented a sport called 'big man rodeo' or something... the idea is that you hide in a busy place, then wait for a 'big man' (probably someone like me, seeing as i'm like 2m tall and broad) to walk past. then you run up behind them quietly and jump on their back... someone has to time you and you have to see how long you can stay on their back. i think his record is something like 10 seconds or something. lol

you should probably be careful doing that cause you may get done for assault lol

Yes, yes, i know, old post, but i TOTALLY would love to see some video of that XDXD AWSOME!!!!

Ah, anyway...
No, not really, though i do not mind being on the reciving end of that, but i tend to be too reserved and seroius to do such a thing. I suppose i have done, well, an exuberent hug before, but i would not call it a 'pounce', as in being 'bouncy', and certainly not leap off the gorund. Besides, i am too qorried that in my affection, i would end up hurting the other person, lol.

k,  so just a random thought,  and it may be based soley on my insane side...   But what if there was some sort of easy to recognise symbol that could be worn at a con or whatnot to show that you are pouncefriendly?   (and mabye another who for if you are specificly anti-pounce?)

I *like* that idea, Alsek!  And one that's not too foreign to me; in horse-shows, owners put a red ribbon in the tail of a horse with a tendency to kick or fight; this warns others to keep their distance.

The people who don't like to get pounced would probably argue that they shouldn't have to alter or add to what they would normally wear just to keep themselves from being assaulted, and I agree.  Pounce-friendly folk seem more likely to wear some sign or symbol to welcome a pouncehug or a glomp.

I made buttons that said "Glomp Me!" for anime cons that sold rather well.  This year for MFF I plan to bring some new ones in, including "Scritch Me!" and "Pounce Me!".

Am I odd for wanting girls to glomp and scritch me but not guys? I told that to a friend once and she said I was homophobic, I think it's just because girls are on average smaller than guys and so I won't be crushed by a pounce.

If I know a guy well enough and consider him a close friend I don't mind a scritch or glomp. Yeah I am Straight but don't have a problem with a guys sexuality, just whether or not I know him well.

Am I odd or just an average straight male for wanting a 100 girls to pounce me and 0 men? :D  :p
