Elusive's Art

This is probably my first real attempt at drawing a full sized image and was looking for some critique/tips to hopefully improve my drawing.

A recent drawing I did based on one of my mothers Hawaii vacation photos. What could that bird be thinking?

Glad you like them :), but I feel I could still use a lot of practice :-[. Drawing things in perspective is a real pain and after looking at the birdy I see what you mean by the tail, something is... off about it :(.

Tail is a little flat, and the cookie seems a bit forced... The first one is good though, and the bird's body is good.

The drawings are pretty good, and with practice your
perspective will improve..

Keep up the good work. :orbunny:

I really need to start coloring my drawings, never have done it before... but can't get better at something if you never even try it.

Actually I find my drawings are great without color. Then again, Im a really realistic landscaper... but my drawings always suck once I add color. Proper shadding and contour can give the same pop as color.

Finally got some free time to draw something :), my first dragon and attempt at shading. This is still a WIP and once I can make a decision on what I want the actual wings to look like I will attempt to finish up the shading. Still need a name for him as well.

Thanks Saiyu  :), I hope I can make a decision on the wings soon, maybe if I look through some of the dragons I have from the Magic the Gathering trading card game will help.

Thank you Iara :).

Got my first dragon done, though I feel like something is off about the wing that is visible. I could also use a lot more practice with shading. What does everyone think?

I think it looks good =o but...I like hardly ever do shading xD! So, that's probably not saying much. I like the shading especially on the horns and tail. But yea, I don't know what else could be added :o if he's a smooth winged dragon like that.

Very nice :) I'm sure the shading will get better with practice, but I see some improvement in the Dragon compared to the bird. Doing good!

Thanks Saiyu :), to me the shading on the head and tail look best as well, maybe because I shaded the head and tail one day and then the rest another day.

Very nice :) I'm sure the shading will get better with practice, but I see some improvement in the Dragon compared to the bird. Doing good!

Thanks Drake :), I think next time I should try to work on adding more texture as well.

Keep up the good work. :orbunny:

Thanks Old Rabbit :), will do.

Thank you Leeseetsa :), I think I finally came up with an ok name, after several days (I have the hardest time coming up with names :P) I came up with Erddrache Steelwing. To my understanding Erddrache simply means earth dragon in German, used an English to German / German to English pocket dictionary I have that's about 50 years old (:.

Decided to attempt a portrait of my grandmothers new cat, Snoopy. I really need to find a better way to get my drawings digitized. Sorry if it's a bit hard to see, I should have made it darker... and some of the weird spots are probably reflections off the glass it's under.

You might try using a art program like Gimp to adjust the
contrast.  That would help.. If your using a I-Pod or android
device. Perhaps you can find a app for modifying photos.

Hope that's helpfull.  Keep up the good work. :orbunny:

I like the drawings. I don't have scanner to really upload any pictures. Through I am still trying to free hand draw. If I can look at another drawing from another artist, I can draw that. I hoping with looking at other peoples' styles, I can find my own and be able to draw better.
