What do you work as? If you are in college, what are you studying to be? If you are in high school or below, what do you want to be?
-
Machine operator for Nestlé USA.

Most of my life I've been in architecture and engineering which i still am, but bein' a rockstar or something would be nice, too! I could also get into the NBA maybe!

Kobuk did his homework :P.
I intend to be a copyright defense lawyer.
-
Dunno, to be honest, 'cause there's no way I'd survive sitting at a desk all day. For some reason taking up welding like my grandfather did appeals to me, but I'm not sure if it's something that I really want to do. Time will tell, I guess.
-
I went to college for drafting and design, but life lead me to being a trucker instead. I do enjoy it though, just look at my sig. :P
I can at least say that what I learned in college (and my highschool drafting courses where I started down that path) has been a nice skill set to have in other areas in my life. Like just recently I was able to diagnose a computer problem after getting hold of the service manual with all the part diagrams circuit board schematics. If I didn't already have a basic idea of how to read them, there would be no way to make heads or tails of that stuff. x_x

I'm in my fourth year of studying palaeontology and evolution. I don't know what I plan to do after I finish university, the number of jobs actually relating to my course is very small and there are too many poeple applying for them. So... I don't know, I guess I'll go look for a job anywhere to tide me over until the economy gets better and I have some idea of what I want to do.
-
I'm doing my last year of a computer systems engineering degree this year.
-
Senior year in High School; I want to go to college for my art and music, and do a lot with my art. Anything from video game design to just selling random pieces would be nice. I'm also thinking about getting into teaching. Beyond that, I'd like to do tattoos also. ;D

My current career :P is working in retail. :'(
I hope sometime to go back into the food service industry.

Wait......let me re-phrase that. My "human" career is working in retail. My "furry" career is being an Admin on Furtopia which can be a tedious and boring and aggravating job sometimes. x_x
*camera pans out to reveal a cluttered and messy Kobuk's office littered with huge stacks of paperwork, files, pizza boxes, half drank cups of Dew, 4 full waste baskets, broken pencils on the desk, etc.*
*finishes another report for the "Out" basket* 6,027 more reports to work on in the "IN" basket* :P

I look to be a writer- as per my own writing as of late. I know I'm gunning for my English Major, perhaps higher(Never really got into what the college degrees were all about, if you will.), and I know I want to enter in the service. Most likely as a tanker, 'cause, hey, everyone loves the raw, destructive power of a 120mm smoothbore cannon, right?

I am an engineering technician temping at Fortune 500 company that makes microprocessors.
-
Studied in art, broadcasting, sound engineering, and in the fall, I'll be going into IT. A part of me dreams of going into game development, either tabletop or videogames, in the more concept and game design departments
stuck working for just over minimum wage at a gas station right now...still sorting out my life and figuring out exactly what my calling is
-
I am a sound engineer (http://www.facebook.com/MajikStudios)
-
Airframes mechanic here. I can do both hydraulics and structural, but I work aviation sheet metal at the moment.
-
IT consultant. Currently lead a small QC group and have a specialization in reviewing Internet applications and web content for section 508 accessibility compliance (ensuring content and applications are usable by people with disablities; visual, hearing and mobility impairments. As part of my IT career, I've been a programmer, tech lead, project lead and now a QC specialist. One thing that has followed me through out is a focus on the Internet.
-
In college, studying biology. Want to go toward medical (research or nursing, not sure which).
-
I originally attended University to become a 3D animation artist but I realized I liked working with my hands and physical medium instead. I spent time as a video game store manager and a web designer. I am now attending University to get my Bachelor of Fine Arts with a Major in Visual Arts. I intend to be a professional artist, doing art exhibitions and possibly concept art for video games and movies. The last two are more of a dream but I will be putting some of my art on exhibit in my city's art centre

Well, I'm in the Vet Science program at my high school, and thats what was I really want to be is a veteriarian. I'm really good with animals. :P
-
I'm going to college to get a degree in engineering, and I'm also starting a job next month teaching robotics to kids at an after school program.
-
Senior in High School right now. My first encounter with programming was last year, and I loved it so much I took an incredibly hard programming class this year :P Planning on majoring in computer science/getting a related job in the future.
-
Right now, I work as a classroom facilitator at a university. However, I've just applied to go to grad school in folklore! If I get in, I'll be a student forever :o
-
Senior year, and have my career picked for 3 years. Video game developer. Going to college for it at DSU, and going to be part of the narrative workings. I can has loads of power? jk, the power is only to those withabout 5 years at least of out of college work :(
-
Train Dispatcher (like an air traffic controller for trains) for the Wisconsin Central Railroad.
-
My current plan is to study sociology when I start school at University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee this fall.
My dream job is to do professional voice-over. I know, I know. "Join the club". It's really something I want to pursue and do. I'm not sure where to start, but I know it's what I want to do with my life.
-
I'm planning on a jack of all trades kind of thing, which each skill set coming together to get me by while I would be doing what I love to do- work with horses. I'm planning on attending a horseshoeing course at an accredited horse college where I will also be tought forging (so not only can I make my own shoes/tools but I can do other blacksmiting projects as well), leather working (I plan on using this to make affordable medieval horse tack), and massage therapy. All of this I'm hoping will allow me to save money to pursue what I REALLY want to do, which is equine dentistry. Since there are no accredited dentistry programs out there I'd have to pay for it out of pocket, but the farrier school IS accredited, so after paying student loans I can work on the dentistry education.
And on the side I want a four-in-hand team of miniature horses to compete professionally in combined driving events : D
It's a lot on my plate but everything naturally spreads itself out to be taken on one at a time anyway..

I work at this doing, "Teir 3 tech support," but in reality i'm in such a small buisness unit in the company that we don't have a tier system. Same TSE stays with the case untill it's done. Cases can last from an hour to several weeks depending on the situation.
I aim to get out of the software industry; I'm schooling to be elsewhere.
-
I'm currently working as an engineer in the automotive industry. I went to school for electrical engineering, and right now I'm a release engineer for driver's assistance systems (things like adaptive cruise control, rear-view camera, blind spot monitoring, etc). I basically just work with one specific system, and work with our component suppliers to ensure their parts meet our specifications.
I... don't really enjoy it at all. It's quite a bit removed from what I would consider true engineering (with a few months of training on our corporate systems and processes, high-school grads could do this work). I'm still trying to get into more of a hardware or software development role soon. I want to actually help create stuff.
-
Currently an undergrad, studying computer engineering, hoping to go for a PhD, and I have a specific interest in cybernetic interfaces.
I have had various jobs to pay for living expenses while at uni, ranging from IT to making business software to 3D modelling for indie games.
-
I'm disabled. But I still hold out a small bit of hope that I'll end up working with robotics someday.

You should look into scholarships for the disabled that could help you go to school for that. Physical disability shouldn't prevent you from studying robotics or being a scientist. You might even be able to get a full ride scholarship.
-
I didn't even know things like that existed. Thanks for the info. I'll have to look into it.
-
Anybody into anatomy? Environmental science? I'm starting to get into that.
-
Update on me:
Going to college this summer to study visual communication (graphic design/illustration).
Want to get in to the comic industry, Doing stuff with self-publishing and small-press/indy comics. Gotta start somewhere :)
-
Aiming super high here, hoping to be a waiter by trade xP
No ordinary waitering, though, Dracula's themed, cabaret restaurant where the people are as fabulous as their costumes. But I can't go applying for a job there until I move to the right city, which will hopefully be soon.
And also doing acting and writing on the side.

I don’t have any career to really talk about, I’ve had many dreams and ideas, though I’ve mostly been prevented from doing anything that I would like, due to one reason or another.
Originally, I wanted to get a pilots license, and then over the years, work my way up to ATP Certification.
And then try to get a job with an airline, my preference was for a shipping company like FedEx.
Though that is something that's becoming more and more unlikely as each year passes.
-
I'm retired! :D
Not really, just unemployed. :(
The last career was a truck driver, funny how relocating a light pole will end a newbies career. Before that, spent almost 20 years in sewer maintenance. Crappy job. Before that, it was industrial mechanic, auto mechanic, and tool & die maker. Got a 2 year degree in electronics in those years too.
As much as the road calls, I don't think I will go back to trucking. But that could happen. (: I may get try to get some training, go back to working on cars, maybe big trucks. I have tried to find work in sewer maintenance. I have been told by my city, I don't have enough experience >:( I actually trained their crews, repaired their equipment in the past. >:(
I may find another path, something new. It's never too late, to teach an old skunk a new trick! ;)
-
I'm currently at university, studying a History degree (second year nearly over...). After my last year, I'll hopefully be getting into post-graduate, doing Battlefield Archaeology. I want to specialise in either the Ancient Roman military, or gladiatorial combat ;)
-
Worked in various laboratories throughout my professional life, had a certificate in wastewater lagoon management, and was certified in pest control and pesticide application. (Yes--I was licensed to kill: Mice, rats, sparrows, starlings, and pigeons. Also ants, termites, moths, wasps, hornets, and roaches...but only the evil ones mind you.)
:goldthpt:
Working part-time at present, for a local municipality, but they tell me it could go full-time.
-
I work at Subway D:
But I'm in college to be a middle school teacher.

Alright, I changed my mind! I'm wanna be a CIA or NSA secret agent saving the world as a job 8)
And one of my missions would be to get Kobuk's subway order to a secure location so he can nom it :)
-
Now I plan to be an EMT: seems like a better overall career than a welder, albeit one requiring a helluva lot more in just about every aspect. Still dunno if it'll stand the test of time, though.
-
Freshman in High School, planning to be a Software Engineer.
-
I am still it high school, but aspire to write fiction novels. I love taking worlds from my head and putting them on paper. I know how writers make money, and unless i become the next Harry Potter, i may need at least a part-time job. I couldn't stand a desk job, so i don't know what i'll do. I have always liked computers, but i have to be honest, i suck at them :(. Of course nothing a little practice can't fix :D.
-
I'm currently unemployed at the moment. But that should change soon. I'll be working on getting a job through the Massachusetts Rehab Commission. If I do get a job, I'm not going to be confident that it'll be a satisfying one. But it's better than no job at all. It's a good thing I'm on Social Security.
-
Quality Control at the Occupational Training Center.
-
costume builder/artist. I do a little of everything. Repair suits, build them, fiddle with computers, sculpt, draw, help people build characters, the typical artsy fartsy stuff :)
-
Freelancer artist/student/model. I would like to be a full-time student, but in order to keep my finances at bay I need to work. I just want to do what I like & love, life is too short for anything else.
-
Right now, I work as a classroom facilitator at a university. However, I've just applied to go to grad school in folklore! If I get in, I'll be a student forever :o
And i would envy you soo much D:
i'm on the verge of being unemployed due to my current employer being a terrible excuse for a bar owner >->
-
I currently studying my way to being a music teacher.
One more course and I can move on to my Integrated Bachelor of Arts.
I have also started tutoring recently. I could have aspirations for doing that regularly too.
Hoping to get a part-time job stocking shelves or similar for the time being.
-
I'm a full time student working on getting my bachelors degree in nursing. For the semester, I'm working at a local elementary school as an office assistant. By the time this semesters over I hope to have a nurse aides certificate so I can try to get a job so my husband can go back to college in the fall.
-
I have a Bachelor of the Fine Arts degree in Technical Theater, with a focus on costuming and puppetry. I'd intended to pursue this when I started school, but (however cliche it sounds) fell in love and decided I'd rather not be having to move around and constantly job hunting as theater technicians tend to do. Right now I work as a part time Page at a library. I'll, hopefully soon, be returning to school to get my Masters in Library and Information Sciences, and become a librarian. (:
~~Brunn~~
-
Sophomore in high school; my current career is student. :D But, My school district has a VERY encompassing technical course selection, and, if I plan well enough, I'll dually get my high school diploma and a veterinary assistant's license. :) (my goal is to become reputable and specialize in exotic pets)
-
I've spent three years studying motor vehicle maintenance at South Devon College (I graduated in June 2010). Despite not getting a job within the industry, I am, on the voluntary side of things, a charity worker for the British Heart Foundation, an engine cleaner on the Kent & East Sussex Railway, and a locomotive restorer on the West Somerset Railway.
-
I'm an Electrician apprentice. I'm working towards becoming a journeyman and then getting into design.
-
2nd year apprentice Fitter Machinist. DIY mechanic also.
WANT to be a pro off-road driver...yeah like that's gonna happen though (but i'll never give up the idea) :D
-
Software engineer in the fueling industry and the power utility industry. I create equipment that monitors for fuel leaks and breaker wear.
